The sunlight filtered softly through the windows of Incheon International Airport as Zerobaseone made their way through the terminal. They were all excited for their upcoming performance overseas, their chatter a mix of anticipation and last-minute preparations. Zhang Hao, known for his calm demeanor and sweet smile, was among them, though he walked a little slower than usual, his face slightly paler."Are you okay, Hao hyung?" Ricky asked, noticing that Zhang Hao had been unusually quiet. He placed a gentle hand on Zhang Hao's shoulder, his brows furrowed with concern.
Zhang Hao nodded with a small smile, though it didn't quite reach his eyes. "I'm fine, Ricky. Just a little tired. It's probably the early flight." He said, brushing it off as if it were nothing. He didn't want to worry the others, especially not before such an important event.
But despite his reassurances, Zhang Hao could feel the familiar signs creeping up on him. His vision blurred at the edges, and his legs felt like they were turning to jelly. He has anemia since childhood, and while he had learned to manage it, sometimes it still hit him out of nowhere, especially when he was stressed or fatigued.
They continued through the terminal, the other members chatting about the setlist and what they were looking forward to seeing in the new country. Zhang Hao tried to keep up, but with each step, he felt himself growing weaker.
Suddenly, his vision went dark, and the world tilted beneath him. He stumbled, reaching out to grab something, anything, to steady himself, but there was nothing there.
"Hao Hyung!!!" Matthew's voice cut through the haze as he lunged forward, catching Zhang Hao just before he could hit the ground. The rest of the group turned in alarm as they saw Matthew holding Zhang Hao, who was now unconscious, his face ghostly pale.
"Hao hyung, wake up!" Hanbin urged, kneeling beside him. He gently patted Zhang Hao's face, trying to rouse him, but there was no response. "We need to get him help, now." Gunwook said, his voice tense. He quickly looked around for airport staff, waving frantically at a nearby officer.
The airport staff reacted quickly, bringing over a wheelchair and helping the members lift Zhang Hao into it. Ricky grabbed Hao's bag while Taerae and Jiwoong stayed close by, their faces etched with worry. "He has anemia since he was a kid. This has happened before but it's never been this bad." Ricky explained quickly to the staff as they were led to the airport's medical center.
The medical center was a small but well-equipped facility within the airport. As they arrived, the staff quickly assessed Zhang Hao, who was still unconscious. They checked his pulse and blood pressure, then hooked him up to an IV drip to get some fluids into his system."It looks like he's experiencing a severe drop in blood pressure due to his anemia. It's good that you got him here so quickly." the nurse explained as she worked.
The members hovered anxiously as they watched the nurse work. They had known about Zhang Hao's condition, but seeing him like this, so vulnerable and fragile, was something else entirely."He's going to be okay, right?" Yujin asked, his voice barely above a whisper. He had always looked up to Zhang Hao, who was like an older brother to him.
"He just needs to rest and get his strength back. But I would recommend that he should not travel today. The long flight and stress would only worsen his condition." The nurse assured them and told them.
This news hit the group hard. They were all supposed to be on that flight together, but now they had to consider what to do."We can't leave him behind. We're a team. We should stay together. " Taerae said firmly, looking at the others.
"But the performance..." Hanbin began, though his voice trailed off. They all knew how important the performance was, but none of them could bear the thought of leaving Zhang Hao behind, especially in this condition. Jiwoong, the oldest spoke up after a moment of silence. "We can talk to the management and explain the situation. I'm sure they'll understand. Hao's health comes first." The others nodded in agreement.
They knew the fans would be disappointed, but Zhang Hao's well-being was more important than anything else. They couldn't push him to go through with the performance, definitely not when he was so unwell.
After some time, Zhang Hao began to stir. His eyelids fluttered open, and he looked around in confusion, disoriented by his surroundings. The first thing he saw was the concerned faces of his group members."Hao hyung, you're awake." Hanbin said with a sigh of relief, his tense shoulders relaxing slightly. Zhang Hao blinked, trying to clear his foggy mind. "W-What... happened?" He murmured, his voice weak. "You passed out at the airport. We're in medi centre bow. You're oka but the nurse said you need to rest. Matthew explained gently. Zhang Hao's eyes widened as the memory came flooding back. "The flight... the performance..."
"Don't worry about that. We've decided to postpone. We're all staying here with you." Jiwoong said quickly. Zhang Hao shook his head, struggling to sit up. "No, you guys should go. The fans..."
"Fans will understand, hyung. Your health is more importan. We're not leaving you behind. " Ricky interjected, placing a firm hand on Zhang Hao's shoulder to keep him from getting up. Tears welled up in Zhang Hao's eyes as he looked at his members. He had always known they were close, but this act of solidarity touched him deeply. "Thank you... I'm sorry for causing trouble."
"Don't apologize, hyung. We're team. We have to take care of each other." Taerae said softly, pulling a chair closer to Zhang Hao's bedside.
Zhang Hao smiled, though his eyes were still wet with tears. "I'm really lucky to have you guys.""And we're lucky to have you too. Now just focus on getting better, okay? We'll be right here." Gunwook replied with a grin. As Zhang Hao relaxed back into the bed, the members took turns sitting by his side, keeping him company and making sure he had everything he needed. The performance could wait. Right now, what mattered most was that Zhang Hao was safe and on the road to recovery, surrounded by the people who cared about him the most.
