The morning sun peeked through the blinds as Yujin groggily rubbed his eyes, barely awake after another restless night. He glanced at his study notes scattered on the desk next to him. The burden of preparing for his midterms alongside ZeroBaseOne’s upcoming comeback weighed heavily on him. His schedule was a whirlwind: wake up, study, practice, MC duties, and then more studying. The pressure was almost tangible, and he felt its full weight bearing down on him as the exam date crept closer. A few days ago, his parents had called, encouraging him to do his best in his exams. Yujin appreciated the support, but their words only added to the pressure he was already feeling.“Yujin-ah, we know you've been working hard, but don’t forget – do your best on your exams. You can’t let us down, alright?” His father’s voice came through the speaker.
Yujin took a deep breath, his voice a little shaky, “Yes, Dad. I’ll do my best… I promise.” He replies, his voice sounded a little shaky.Unbeknownst to him, he had accidentally left the call on speaker, and his hyungs, who were scattered in the living room, overheard everything. As soon as the call ended, Yujin rested his head in his hands, his exhaustion evident.
Hanbin’s brows furrowed in concern as he glanced at the others. "Did you guys hear that?" He whispered, careful not to alert Yujin."Yeah, he’s under so much pressure. He’s just a kid, and he has so much on his shoulders." Hao replied as he looked at him with concern.
"I don’t think he’ll let himself take a break, though. He wants to prove himself to everyone." Ricky murmured, his eyes fixed on Yujin’s weary form. But no one dared to say anything in front of Yujin. Instead, they watched in silence as he pushed himself day after day, the weight of school and their comeback grinding him down bit by bit.
Finally, the day of the exams arrived. Yujin looked visibly tired, his face pale and his eyes heavy. The other members noticed immediately.
"Yujin-ah, if you felt unwell during the exam, come back right away." Taerae said gently as they gathered in the dorm’s living room as members were leaving for practice. "Don't worry about practice, we can handle the practice without you for today." Gyuvin said further.
Yujin just nodded, his lips pressed into a thin line. He didn’t trust himself to speak, afraid that his voice might betray the exhaustion he felt. Instead, he gave his hyungs a small smile before heading out.
"I'm worried about yujin. He looked like he didn't sleep at all." Hanbin says, concern visible in his eyes.
"I just hope he makes it through the day." Hao mutters, his eyes lingering at the front door.As yujin stepped out of the dorm, he saw the manager waiting for him. He sat in the car as the manager drove him to school. The manager was also worried about him. As they reached the school, the manager stopped him."Yujin listen. If you feel unwell during the exam, just call me and I'll come to pick you up, okay?" He told him, before letting him go. Yujin just nodded, too tired to speak.
In the exam hall, Yujin sat at his desk, his hands clammy as he tried to focus on the questions in front of him. The words blurred together, and his head throbbed as exhaustion and fatigue threatened to overwhelm him. He had pushed himself beyond his limits, and now, his body was beginning to fail him. He knew he can't continue in this condition.
He raised his hand, his vision swimming as he called for the teacher’s attention. The teacher hurried over, noticing his pale face and glazed eyes. "Yujin-ssi, are you okay?" He asked, concern laced his voice. He shook his head slightly, his voice weak. "Teacher, I... I don’t feel well." He told him, his voice sounding weak.
