Yujin loved his eight hyungs more than anything. They were his family, his source of comfort, and the people he trusted with his life. He couldn’t imagine a world without them. Little did he know, his hyungs had planned something that would put that love to the test. The younger members, Gyuvin, Ricky, and Gunwook, had come up with the idea of pulling a death prank on Yujin. Initially, the older members weren’t on board with it. Hanbin, Jiwoong, and Hao especially were concerned about how Yujin would react.
"This is too much. He’s still young, and this could really mess with him."Hanbin argued, his face creased with worry. "I agree. Yujin is sensitive and he looks up to us." Hao added."Hyung, it’ll be fine! We’ll reveal it’s a prank before it goes too far. Besides, Yujin always pranks us! It’s time for some payback." Gyuvin says, trying to convince them. "We’ll take care of him afterward, don’t worry. He’ll probably just get mad for a while, but he’ll forgive us!" Ricky chimed in."And you know how he loves dramatic reactions. He’ll probably just cry for a minute, and then laugh about it later." Gunwook adds with a grin.
Reluctantly, the hyung line agreed, though a sinking feeling remained in Hao’s chest. They planned everything while Yujin was at school, covering themselves with fake blood and arranging their ‘dead’ bodies around the dorm.
When Yujin came home from school that afternoon, he noticed something strange immediately—a smear of blood on the front door. His heart rate spiked, panic creeping into his chest. "What… what is this?" he muttered under his breath, his hand trembling as he pushed the door open.
Inside the living room, his worst nightmare seemed to unfold before his eyes. Hanbin and Gunwook were sprawled on the couch, covered in blood. His breath caught in his throat, and he rushed forward.
"Hyung? Hyung!" Yujin shouted, shaking Hanbin’s shoulder, but there was no response.
Terrified, he bolted to the kitchen, his heart pounding louder than his footsteps. There, he found Hao and Jiwoong lying on the floor, also covered in blood. Yujin’s vision blurred with tears as his mind raced. "This can’t be happening… Please…" he whispered, his voice cracking.
He ran upstairs, his legs weak and heavy. When he opened the bedroom door, he found Matthew lifeless on the bed and Taerae collapsed on the floor beside him, both drenched in fake blood.
With shaking hands, he moved toward the bathroom, dreading what he might find. He opened the door and saw Ricky and Gyuvin lying on the floor, unmoving. That was the breaking point. His world shattered.
Yujin stumbled back downstairs, his body barely able to carry him anymore. His mind was a mess. The dry tears on his cheeks stung, but nothing compared to the pain in his chest. Before he could process the horror in front of him, His knees gave out, and he collapsed onto the floor in the center of the living room, everything went black.
The loud thud echoed through the dorm. Hanbin and Gunwook immediately broke character and rushed to Yujin. "Yujin-ah, wake up! It’s just a prank! Wake up!" Hanbin called out as he cradled yujin's head on his lap and tapped his cheeks lightly, his voice shaking with regret.Gunwook quickly lifted Yujin and placed him gently on the couch. Hao sat beside him, running his fingers through Yujin’s hair, his face etched with guilt.
"This was a huge mistake… we shouldn't have done this." Hao whispered, shaking his head. "I didn’t think he’d react like this. We went too far." Jiwoong muttered, his expression grin.
After a few tense minutes, Yujin stirred, his eyes slowly fluttering open. He was drenched in cold sweat, his breathing shallow. Without saying a word, he immediately grabbed onto Hao, hugging him tightly. His body shook as he buried his face in Hao's chest.
"H-Hyung… you all are alive?" Yujin’s voice was weak, trembling with the remnants of fear. "We’re all alive, Yujin-ah. It was just a prank, but… I’m so sorry. We didn’t mean to scare you like this." Hao says, his voice cracking a bit as he hugged him tightly, stroking his hair.
Yujin didn’t respond. He slowly pushed himself off the couch, his movements robotic. Without a word, he put on his shoes and walked outside.
"Yujin, wait!" Hanbin called after him, but Yujin didn’t stop. The members scrambled after him, hearts heavy with guilt.
They searched the surrounding area, anxiety mounting as the minutes passed. Finally, Gyuvin spotted a familiar figure sitting on a park bench. He quickly waved the others over."He’s here! I found him!" Gyuvin called out. The members rushed over, surrounding Yujin. Gyuvin and Ricky sat on either side of him, while the rest stood close by. Yujin’s eyes were fixed on the ground, his expression unreadable. Ricky, his voice soft, asked, "Why did you run off like that? We were worried." Yujin finally looked up, his eyes red and swollen.
"I… I thought all of you were gone. It was scary… seeing you all lying there, covered in blood. I couldn’t breathe. I can’t imagine my life without you hyungs. You all mean the world to me." Yujin says, his voice cracked as he looks up at them, his eyes were red and swollen from crying.
His voice cracked, and tears welled up again. The members exchanged guilty glances, their hearts heavy with regret. Some of them teared up, feeling the weight of Yujin’s words.
"Yujin, I’m so sorry. We never should’ve done that to you. We didn’t realize how much it would affect you." Hanbin says as he knelt in front of him
Hao added softly, "You’re right. We’re family, and we should have known better. We hurt you, and we’re really sorry, yujin." Hao added further. The other members echoed their apologies, each feeling the weight of what they had done. Slowly, one by one, they all wrapped their arms around Yujin, pulling him into a tight group hug.
For a moment, everything was still. The only sound was Yujin’s quiet sobs, muffled against the comfort of his hyungs. "I love you, hyungs." Yujin whispered, his voice raw but filled with warmth. "We love you too, Yujin-ah. We’ll never let anything like this happen again." Hanbin replied, his voice thick with emotion.
And in that moment, surrounded by his hyungs, Yujin knew that no matter what, he was never alone.
