ZB1 was in the middle of a busy recording session for their upcoming album. The studio was filled with energy, the members taking turns in the booth while the others listened, offered feedback, and relaxed. Yujin, the youngest member, was sitting quietly on the couch, his face slightly pale."You okay, Yujin?" Matthew asked, noticing the younger boy's unusual silence. Normally, Yujin would be full of energy, cracking jokes, or asking questions. Yujin managed a small smile. "Yeah, just a bit of a stomachache. I think I ate something that didn't agree with me."
"Do you need a break?" Ricky asked from across the room, concerned.
"No, I'm fine. I'll just rest here for a bit." Yujin replied, waving off their worries. He didn't want to make a big deal out of it, especially with everyone so focused on their work. The members nodded though they were not convinced by Yujin's words. They knew something was wrong with maknae. They continued with their recording. As the day wore on, Yujin's discomfort grew, but he tried to push through, not wanting to disrupt the session. However, as they were wrapping up a particularly intense vocal take, Yujin suddenly stood up, clutching his stomach. "Yujin?" Hanbin called out, noticing the pained expression on his face. Before anyone could react, Yujin stumbled towards the bathroom and threw up. The room went silent, the members staring in shock as the youngest hunched over, clearly in pain.
"Yujin!" Jiwoong exclaimed, rushing over to him. The others quickly followed, concerned etched on their faces."I'm okay hyungs. It's probably just something I ate." Yujin mumbled weakly, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand."That's not just a stomachache. We should get you back to the dorm. Gunwook said, worried in his voice. Hanbin nodded in agreement. "Yeah, let's not take any chances. You need to rest."With that, they quickly gathered their things and helped Yujin out of the studio, heading back to their dorm. The ride back was tense, the members exchanging worried glances as Yujin sat quietly, his face pale and sweaty. Back at the dorm, they settled Yujin onto the couch, wrapping him in a blanket. Taerae brought him a glass of water, while Gyuvin tried to distract him with light conversation, but it was clear Yujin was in pain."How are you feeling now?" Matthew asked, kneeling beside the couch."It still hurts. It's getting worse hyung." Yujin admitted, his voice shaky. Jiwoong frowned, placing a hand on Yujin's forehead. "You're burning up. This isn't normal."
"We should call the manager and get him to a hospital," Ricky suggested, already reaching for his phone. Yujin started to protest, "I don't want to cause trouble-"
"You're not causing trouble. Your health is more important." Hanbin interrupted gently but firmly. The members quickly agreed, and within minutes, they were on their way to the hospital. The ride was tense, Yujin leaning against Zhang Hao who kept a comforting arm around him. The pain was becoming unbearable, and he could barely keep his eyes open.
At the hospital, they were met by a nurse who took Yujin into the emergency room while the members waited anxiously in the hallway. They paced back and forth, their worry growing with each passing minute. "What if it's something serious?" Gyuvin whispered, voicing the fear they were all feeling. "Let's not jump to conclusions. We just have to wait and see what doctors say." Taerae said, though his tone betrayed his own anxiety.
Finally, a doctor emerged, and the members quickly gathered around him."Is he going to be okay?" Jiwoong asked urgently. The doctor nodded, though his expression was serious. "Yujin has acute appendicitis. We'll need to perform surgery to remove his appendix, but he'll be fine once it's done. You got him here just in time."
The members let out a collective sigh of relief, though the worry didn't completely leave their faces. "Can we see him?" Gunwook asked."Of course. He's a bit out of it from the pain medication but you can be with him until we take him into surgery." the doctor replied. They followed the doctor into the room where Yujin was lying on a hospital bed, looking small and vulnerable. His eyes fluttered open as they approached.
"Hyungs, sorry for worrying you." he murmured, his voice weak."Don't be sorry Yujin. We're just glad you are getting the help you need.Ricky said, sitting down beside the bed and taking Yujin's hand. "We'll be here when you wake up. You're going to be fine." Matthew added, offering a reassuring smile.
Yujin managed a small nod before his eyes closed again, the pain and medication pulling him into a restless sleep. The members stayed with him until the nurses came to take him into surgery, offering words of comfort and encouragement. As they waited in the hospital's waiting room, the group sat close together, supporting one another through the worry and fear. They talked about anything and everything to pass the time, but their thoughts were all on Yujin. After what felt like an eternity, the doctor returned with good news. "The surgery was successful. Yujin will need to rest for a while, but he'll make a full recovery."
The members erupted in relieved cheers, their anxiety finally easing.
"Can we see him now?" Hanbin asked eagerly. "He's still groggy from the anesthesia, but you can see him briefly." The doctor said. They hurried to Yujin's side, finding him awake but drowsy, a small smile on his face as he saw them."You did great, baby." Jiwoong said, patting his shoulder gently.
"Thanks hyungs. I'm really glad you are with me." Yujin whispered, his voice still weak but full of gratitude."We'll always be here for you, baby." Gunwook said firmly, echoing the sentiment of the group. They spent the next few hours by Yujin's side, talking softly and keeping him company as he began to recover. When it was time to go home, they made sure he was settled comfortably, with plans to stay with him in shifts to make sure he had everything he needed.
The following days were filled with care and attention, each member taking turns to watch over Yujin, making sure he rested and recovered fully. They cooked for him, kept him entertained, and made sure he never felt alone.Despite the scare, the experience brought them even closer together. It was a reminder of the bond they shared, one that went beyond just being bandmates. They were a family, and no matter what, they would always take care of each other.
As Yujin gradually regained his strength, he couldn't help but feel incredibly grateful for the support of his members. And as they joked and laughed together, he knew that no matter what challenges they faced, they would always have each other's back.
