Ally

"That was a terrible idea!" My brother choked, downing some soda. He drank half his bottle and tried to breathe correctly. His blue eyes were watering and I couldn't help but laugh at him.

"You agreed to do it!" I laughed, barely holding in the entertainment he was giving me.

"These sour skittles suck! I probably have cavities now." He complained, rubbing his jaw.

"Poor baby, did you want some water?" With that, he flipped me off, causing me to laugh even harder at him. He got up from the kitchen table and went to his bedroom, muttering about how I'm a terrible sister.

I started cleaning up the mess he made when I heard someone stomp through my house.

"Ally?" I heard the familiar voice call. I turned around to see my best friend, Ryder, wandering around my kitchen.

Ryder was tall, probably around six feet. He always had blue, sparkling eyes and his dark blond hair was always ruffled. He was built from hockey, and he always smelled like fresh linen. He was unmistakably attractive, but he'll always be the same twelve year old wearing Batman undies.

"Yes?" I asked, now irritated that he felt the need to barge into my house like he lived here.

"I'm bored." He complained, plopping down on the couch and kicking his feet on the coffee table. I pushed his feet off of the table and rolled my eyes at him.

"And why is that?" I asked, not really wanting to hear the answer. He apparently didn't catch on to my tone because he answered anyway.

"Everyone else is gone." He whined.

"I'm so glad I'm you're first choice." I said sarcastically.

"Let's do something." He suggested, ignoring my comment.

"Like what?"

"Let's go to the beach." I groaned before he finished his sentence. The beach was the last place I wanted to go to. Don't get me wrong, I loved the beach. I loved feeling the sand beneath my toes and hearing the waves crash to shore.

What I didn't like was that when we went, it was a huge production. Girls would flirt with him and he'd hook up with them, go home with them, and leave me by myself.

"It'll be fun." He assured me.

"No."

"You love the beach!" He whined. Gosh, I just wanted to smack him.

"Yeah, but you always leave me." He got closer to me and moved his face close to mine. If he moved any closer, we would be kissing.

"Please?" He asked, giving me puppy dog eyes. He was so close to me I could smell is cinnamon breath and the fresh linen of his clothes.

"Will you buy me food?" I asked him, slightly moving away from his face.

"Whatever you want." He smiled.

"Fine." I sighed

"Go upstairs and change. Is your dad in his room?" He asked.

"Yes." I answered quietly. He looked at me with soft eyes and nodded his head.

"I'm going to go say hi to him." He said, walking up my stairs. Ryder was close to my dad, he was like his father. Ryder's dad bailed on him many years ago and they haven't talked since.

When it came to my dad, Ryder didn't play around. He was always there for me with him, and he talked to him like he was his dad. Ryder was the day we found out he had cancer, and has stuck by ever since.
