Hey everyone! Just wanted to apologize for sucking at being a writer because I’ve been in school and it’s very time consuming. If you didn’t know, or if you care, I just moved up to college and it’s the most terrifying, wonderful experience of my life. I miss my family like crazy and I’m dealing with being homesick but it’s such a wonderful experience. I suggest it for anyone that can. It’s difficult, but it’s worth it.

Anyway, I have no idea where I’m going with the story, I thought I had it all planned out and one day I just wrote whatever the hell felt right and now here I am. So I guess to say that I had a writer’s block would be an understatement.

Thank you for reading, I appreciate it more than anything, so now with the chapter I just pulled out of my butt. I hope you like it.

Lauren.

Ps.

I don’t know when I’ll update again, I’m just throwing that out there. I don’t exactly writing stories when my roommate is around because that’s kind of awkward, and I have a shit load of homework.

So there’s that.

Okay, with the chapter.

Chapter Eighteen

Ryder

“He’s okay.” Her father whispered when he hung up the phone. I watched as relief flooded through his eyes and his fragile body broke down in happiness. I wasn’t sure on what I was supposed to do, so I just grabbed his hand. He seemed to be alright with that as he squeezed it, wiping his eyes.

“What happened?” Her father finally asked when he had put himself back together. I opened my mouth to explain it to him, but I realized I wouldn’t even know where to start. I wasn’t sure what I would even say to him.

“Adam is an ass.” I summed up in four words. He cracked a small smile and shook his head. My fist was a little bloody and I’m sure I had a couple of bruises on my face, but I didn’t feel like that mattered at the moment.

       “Apparently.” He muttered.

“If I would have known sooner about Tyler, I would have pro-“

“Ryder, you can’t help everyone. I know you like to, but sometimes, people don’t want to be helped, and that doesn’t always benefit them in the end. You also can’t prevent something from happening.” He said, causing me to look down at my hands.

       “Sorry.”

“For what? Keeping my family together?”

“They don’t exactly seem together.” I admitted, running my hand through my hair.

“You just need to calm down, son. You’ve always put so much stress on yourself I was worried you were going to pass out from the weight of it. You’re doing more than enough, Ryder, and I don’t think anyone can ever thank you enough.”

“I just don’t like seeing you guys upset.” I admitted.

“Ryder,” He said, looking at me. I couldn’t help but stare into his glassy eyes, wondering what the hell goes through his head through the day. “You also have to take care of yourself.” He ordered. I didn’t care about myself, I could look like a fucking hobo for all I care, as long as Ally was okay.

       “Right.”

       “I’m serious.” He nodded.

“Do you want something to drink?” I asked him, changing the subject.
