"What are you here for Roman?" Elizabeth asks, crossing her arms against her chest acting in a distant manner. Roman had come this morning, early in the morning right before the national founding ball. She had so many things to do before she attended. What could he possibly be here for?
"Lady Elizabeth," he starts off. He seems to be regretting coming here but he had no choice. "I want you to be my partner for the National founding ceremony. Ludovika is going with his Highness, so I thought..." his voice trails off, meeting her eyes for an answer. And she responds with a laugh. Roman wished he understood what made her laugh.
"You're so pathetic for that! Coming here to ask me to be your partner because the one you want is with another. What happened to 'I will stop you from separating me and Ludovika'!" She continues to laugh, making her stomach crumple from laughing so hard. An angry blush spreads across his face. "You didn't have to laugh so hard for a simple joke. It wasn't even that funny." He says. Shakes his head, ruffling his hair in frustration. "What's the answer though? Are you going to go with me or not?" He seems to be speaking more informal to her lately, she had to put him in place.
"Fine , I'll go with you. I don't have a partner either. Sometimes I wonder if we're meant to be together since the ones we love are going to be together in the end." It was an impulsive thought that she spoke out, and Roman heard it too. It was too late to take it back. A smile cracks on his face. "You like the crown prince? You really like him? I thought you hated him for so long." Now he was the one laughing while holding his stomach. Elizabeth rolled her eyes.
The national founding day festival lasts all day long, with many events that the nobles can attend. It would start off with a sword fighting competition, then a wrestling competition, and lastly the ball at the end of the day. It was an eventful day for all the people on the empire, it was bustling in the streets from corner to corner that it took a while for the nobles carriages to pass through and make it to the events. Elizabeth had arrived shortly after getting ready, she had arrived in a carriage with her two brothers. Johannes and Albrecht. Johannes was already on the move, quietly searching for someone and Elizabeth knew who. Ludovika of course.
Instead I go with Albrecht inside to the grand arena. It seems that Roman will be participating today as one of the contestants in the sword fighting competition. He was the son of the best swordsman in the empire, so everyone would be seeing his talent today. And how good of a swordsman he can be. Elizabeth took her respective seats with Albrecht, the show hadn't started yet, but it will soon. That's when she hears two soft laughs coming from the side. And when she looks up, she sees Maximilian and Ludovika, with her hand wrapped around his arm, linked.
They were both laughing over something while approaching Elizabeth. She just watched them as they came closer and in a brief moment Maximillian's gaze had changed while looking at Elizabeth. "Lady Elizabeth, I see that you're here early. Are you perhaps here to cheer for someone?" He asks, but there was also a fear resonating in his eyes as he asked. Elizabeth nodded and the fear completely instilled itself into his eyes. "I'm here flat cheer for Roman. He's my partner for the day." She says, as they had discussed this already. Elizabeth might be going with Roman most probably, so it shouldn't be a surprise.
