Note: If you don't remember what happened in the 4th chapter City Of Love I recommend going back, and reading it.
Enzo's Point Of View:
After Rose grabbed my arm, my heart truly just stopped, then started beating rapidly. It felt like I had just ran a whole mile. Without being out of breath, but with my heart still beating fast.
All I could think about in that moment was, how beautiful she looked. And how I could just give her a hug, or maybe even kiss her and say sorry. But I know, I'll never have the guts to do it. I'm hella glad she said sorry, and we made up. When she started walking me to class, she also put me on this new Toosii song. It's a good ass song, it got a good beat and makes you feel kind of powerful.
We're now coming up to the door, and the song is over by now.
"Alright, bye," she says putting out her arm to dab me up.
Our hands meet, and so do our eyes, when we dab each other up.
"Love you," I whisper as I pull her into a hug after we dab each other up.
"Huh?"
"I- I didn't mean it lik- like that- I just mean- meant like platonic," I say while stuttering nervously.
FUCK!! What am I thinking?
"Nah, I get it. You too," she says while laughing, but I can still tell she's nervous. She starts to turn around and walk away, but I let out,
"You ain't from Tennessee, but, you the only ten I see," I say.
"What?
"None, I was just singing-" I say trying to think of the name, also while trying to play it off. At this moment, I'm praying she doesn't see right through me. Knowing her though, she probably does. -That's the scary part.
"City Of Love?" she asks.
"Yeah, exactly! City Of Love, that's what it was," I say nervously.
I watch as she begins walking back, to her class, and with fear and nervousness blooming in the pit of my stomach, while a bit of nausea rose.
Blooming. Flowers bloom. Rose. The idea struck to call Rose Bloom, a cute nickname. I noticed no one ever calls her by anything besides Rose. I think she needs a nickname, and I'mma give her one.
As I walked into class I had to grab the door frame since I had gotten dizzy a second earlier.
"You good?" My History teacher Mr. Francisco asks,
"Yeah, I'm fine Mr. Francisco," I say. Then I make my way to my seat.
My History class goes by pretty quickly but also seems like it takes forever. During class I had this thought, to invite Rose to my house. Not as a date (Obviously) but just for us to recover our friendship and return to what it was. When things weren't awkward and weird.
I start to make my way to, English class, I start to walk towards History. I lock eyes with Rose across the quad. I start to smile till I feel a hand on my right shoulder.
"Sup Enzo," JJ says right in my ear.
I don't know how I didn't feel his presence.
"Sup JJ. Where's the rest of the boys?" I ask noticing it's just him, and not Pope or Tasher with him.
It's weird since I never see one without the other. Well, I guess since I'm actually hanging out with them now, and not just from a distance, I'll notice more. Even though I've only hung out with them for a few periods, I weirdly consider them my good friends already. It's not even like we've hung out all like that. It just feels right, with Cal and Oliver, it took a while for me to consider them my good, close friends.
