Rose Ramirez and Lorenzo Martin have known each other since 5th grade. They were each other greatest enemies for the longest time. Until last year, when their paths kept crossing. After having, all the same classes, going to the exact same therapist...
"Rose?" I say, running my hand through my fro. I watch her in admiration, watching me in admiration. She looks starstruck. Like she just saw Mbnel, Rod Wave, or Juice back from the dead. Now I think that's something everyone would want to see...
"En...." She paused.
"Zo" I finish after her.
"Are you okay? Where were you the entire, rest of sixth period, and the rest of seventh?" She gets more demanding by the second question.
"Alright, chill. I'm okay, I was here obviously," I say.
"Well don't just walk out of class, like that."
"Alright Mom," I say through a laugh.
"The real question is why are you here?" I say in a suspicious tone.
"My computer froze..."
She has that look in her eyes, I'd know that look of hers, in a dream. It's the look that says, I'm lying I just don't want anyone to know I'm lying kind of look.
"If you say so," I say with a smirk on my face.
"What does that mean?" She says with a straight face but still looks like she's laughing inside.
"You tell me, you're the one who said that to me earlier."
"Whatever bruh. let's just go, I know their waiting for me," She says while laughing.
As we walk out of the library, I hear a ding from her watch. Then another, then about another one from my own phone.
"Trust me when I tell you this, it's Ananya," she says pointing.
"How you know?" I say with a snicker.
"Because, I know she does that. She sends multiple texts to say one thing."
"Which is....." I hesitantly
"Incredibly annoying, I know," she says chuckling.
I laugh at the fact of how much she knows her best friends. I love it when people are super, observant. that's one of the things I also love about Rose, I guess I'd have to add that to the list. (There's not actually a list)
I pull my phone out of my back pocket and check the texts. It's in the group chat between, me Rose, Autumn, Ananya, and Charlotte.
Ananya: Rose htfu
Ananya: N get with Enzo
Ananya: N htfu getting here 💀💀
Ananya: Were waiting 🙄
Ananya: U n ur fake ass frozen computer 💀
Wait..... Rose likes me? I also watch Rose check her texts, I look at her, her pupils dilated like she had just seen a ghost. A few seconds later I see from my texts, that Ananya unsent a message. I hear Rose let out a sigh of relief. Which is weird because I know she knows what Ananya's text said. It's too late I've already seen it. Right after she lets out a sigh of relief , she starts to walk faster. I even have to slightly jog after her. I have to break the silence it's just too awkward.
"I see them," I say.
"So that's how you break the silence? Really?" She says in an annoyed tone.
"Wha-"
"Lorenzo, stop acting stupid. I know you saw the damn text!"
"Alright, fine. I did," I admit in a pissed-off tone.
I watch her put her Airpods in, I can tell she's about to play her Cheer TF Up playlist. She brings up the dial on her watch, I know for a fact she's putting the volume up. Because about 15 seconds later, I hear Juice saying
"As long as you work hard, give it your all, and don't listen to,
What anybody got to say, it's your world, you can do what you want, on bro, period,
Always remember that, I love every single last one of y'all,"
We're almost to Ananya, and them. They start to walk towards us. I can tell she's still mad. Her anger shows even more when she says,
"No, nah I'm not walking up the hill with you guys."
"Why?" Ananya asks.
"Well, I don't know. Maybe because you texted get with Enzo in the group chat..." She says in a now furious tone.
"Wow.." Charlotte says.
"Damn..." Autumn says right after.
"Umm..." I say
"For real damn, I didn't think you'd just rip off the Band-Aid like that," Charlotte says in an extremely amused tone.
"I don't have time for this bullshit. Come on Enzo," she says while walking past them.
And I follow her.
