Rose's Point Of View:
"I'm gonna go to the bathroom," says Ananya nervously.
I wait for her to leave the class, then I acknowledge the elephant in the room.
"What?" I say.
"Nothing, I didn't say anything." He says nervously.
Knowing that he's lying, just makes the situation 10x more awkward.
If I'm completely honest with myself, you never know what could happen. Are the odds low? Yes. Could it happen in another universe? Or even this one? Maybe.
"Okay, if you say so," I say smirkingly.
By now Close Friends is already over.
So I go to my playlist and search How You Gonna Act Like That by Tyrese out of convenience, so I don't have to scroll through 108 songs. I don't press play just yet. I need to check in with Enzo before.
"So considering the fact that you're like 999% sure that your best friends are spreading rumors about you. Us." I correct myself.
For some reason, it still doesn't sit right with me, and probably will never. Knowing the fact that there are really rumors being spread about us. Like we aren't even that close, don't get me wrong, I know we hang out A LOT. But why can't some people just see we are just friends, and accept that fact?
"I wanna play a song that might be reliable, sort of. It's called How You Gonna Act Like That. You wanna hear it?"
"Yeah. Sure," He says.
I press play and pull up the lyrics. As I pull up the lyrics I think back to my childhood before I was 13, before I turned 15.
Right after he sings,
"How you gonna up and leave me now?
How you gonna act like that?
How you gonna change it up?
We just finished makin' up."
Enzo asks me, "Would you ever cheat?"
"No, of course not!" I say with a lot of emotion.
"What would you do if you caught him cheating?" He says.
"I would go home, cry, listen to My X Was Poison, then block him, get all my friends hating him, which I know is not gonna be hard. Then possibly get him jumped. How bout' you?" I say jokingly but slightly seriously.
Right after this, I see goosebumps appear on his arm. Then he looks like as if a shiver just went down his spine, right after hearing what I said.
