The black cat scanned the forest clearing, yellow eyes watching for anything suspicious. He was looking for someone but so far they hadn't shown up yet.
He arched his back in an angry growl.
Where is he? He should be here by now.
He hissed to himself.
Hours passed. He pawed at the ground impatiently.
That's it!
He thought. I'll find him myself!
He had made sure that a certain human had been invited to a party right where he intended his crime to occur.
So far though, it didn't look like that was happening anytime soon.
He transformed back into his original form just as a young man turned the corner right into the cat's direction.
The man gaped, having seen the cat change into a hooded figure. The blonde backed up, brown eyes scared. "What are you?" He gasped.
The hooded figure smirked, mouth completely hidden beneath his jacket.
"No one knows what I am! That's why people call me the Shapeless!"
The teen had a look of horror, backing farther into the dark.
Shapeless cracked his neck. A cat wasn't exactly his favorite form to take. Just a second ago, he had tried to steal a baby bird out of a Robin's nest. The saying 'mother bird' was fitting. Sharp beaks had swooped down on him like an extremely protective jackhammer!
The Shapeless grunted, wanting to forget about it.
But there was no time for childish emotions like shame.
He turned back to the freaked out teenager in front of him."What do you want from me?" The boy whispered, trying to escape.
The Shapeless snarled, looming over him.
"I want you, Anthony." He scowled, annoyed at all the questions. Why couldn't he just die quickly and get it over with?
Anthony glanced around frantically.
"How do you know my name?"
He demanded.
Shapeless followed closely. "I know many things Mr Silvey." He sneered.
Anthony still didn't understand. "What did I ever do to you to deserve this?" He blinked. Still backing up.
Shapeless took a large step towards the frightened college student. "Oh you didn't do anything. Your sister did! When she saw me." He growled. "You didn't think that house caught on fire on its own did you?" He scoffed.
Anthony shook his head. "What does this mean?"
Shapeless raised a blue knife from his cloak. "It means that I have finally found my prey!"
He cackled as Anthony turned and ran.
"Run if you want but your fate has already been decided!" Shapeless yelled after the fleeing boy smugly.
He won't get far. He waited, walking slowly.
He took his time as Anthony used up all his energy, running for his life.
At last he heard the rustle of bushes up ahead and saw the trail of blood In the scuffed dirt. Anthony had stumbled into a thorn bush.
Shapeless swooped down upon his prey, eyeing the squirming boy hungrily.
"You humans are so predictable!" He mocked, shouldering through the trees to get to his side.
Now his prey was vulnerable.
Anthony shielded his face with his hands. "Please. You don't want to do this." he gasped.
Shapeless snarled. "You don't know what I want." he glared, raising the dagger above his head and bringing it down with great force, plunging it deep into Anthony's back.
Shapeless watched devoid of emotion while Anthony writhed in pain as the blade's magic incinerated him from the inside. He stared at Anthony's twitching form coldly.
Shapeless felt nothing when he saw the dead college student lying there, face twisted with fear.
He turned to gaze into the forest, licking his lips triumphantly.
His job was done and he couldn't wait to find his next victim.
