Skyler sighed, trying not to be distracted. She couldn't get the image of Peter's helpless expression out of her head, as Jason hurried her away. That was the look of innocence if she ever saw it. The hard part would be convincing Jason. She glanced up at her friend nervously.
"Jason..."
The brunette looked down at her. "I know what you're going to say." He dismissed.
"But Peter didn't do anything!" She spluttered.
Jason blinked. "You don't know that." He argued.
"But his face... he's innocent! I could see it in his eyes." She protested.
To her dismay, Jason didn't look The least convinced. She lowered her head, dragging her feet down the hall with him.
Jason noticed her sadness and stopped.
He ran a hand through her hair fondly.

Skyler blinked and his eyes softened. He cupped her cheek lovingly.
"Oh Skyler..." he sighed. "I know how hard this is... but it's for your own good." He insisted, giving her a hug. He attempted to pull away but Skyler clung to the embrace, tears spilling down her cheeks. She was so conflicted. Should she listen to her crush and avoid Peter? or prove their friend's innocence? She bit her lip, wiping away her tears. Trying not to let her hurt show, she pulled away and looked into his eyes.

Jason blinked kind blue eyes. She brushed brown hair out of his face sadly. Looking at him, she knew he meant well but that wasn't enough evidence. If Peter indeed was the Shapeless, she would need more than just a theory to be convinced.
"Bye Jason." She forced a smile, backing away.
Jason nodded with a soft grin. "We will figure it out, Skyler cat. Don't worry." He walked up to her. "I just don't want to see you get hurt." he soothed.
It was Skyler's turn to nod. She stepped away, eyes hardening with determination.
"I know. But I can do this on my own." She turned around.
Jason gazed after her with concern, as her bus left the parking lot.

Her thoughts swam and she stared out the window. What was going on with their friend group? Just yesterday they had all been getting along. Now they were split down the center. Their group wasn't the only thing damaged. Skyler's heart ached with the loss of Peter's friendship. The blonde was special to her. Even if she did prove his innocence, would he ever forgive them for turning away? She sighed to herself as rain dripped down the glass. She fidgeted, twirling her blonde hair tips.
Her heart sank when she laid her eyes on Peter's empty seat. He hadn't ridden the bus home. The blonde must be so heartbroken. It was all her fault. She should have tried harder to convince Jason. There must be something she could have done! Right?
Her thoughts got cut off when the screech of brakes sounded.

Shaking away her misgivings, Skyler walked out of the bus, into the forest.
She trudged down the familiar path, feet kicking up dust. She knew that she had to do something for Peter, but what? She couldn't figure it out.
Her mind chewing on this, the dark haired girl stopped at a rustling sound coming from the bushes.
She tilted her head curiously and a black cat sprung out.
A small smile lit her face and she bent down to pet the creature.
"Shade. Where have you been, little guy?" She asked in a baby voice, stroking the feline's chin. The cat seemed to mock her for the gesture, lifting its tail and stalking back into the bushes.
She laughed softly, continuing slowly.

She gulped at the sight of the orphanage's dark gray exterior. She avoided the areas where the building's walls were crumbling. To be honest, she wished that she could avoid the whole thing in general.

Entering the door, she glanced around frantically. Relief filled her. No one had noticed her absence.
Closing the door quietly, Skyler began creeping down the hall.
She searched the walls to make sure she dodged loose nails.
The sound of a fight rang through the area.
She sighed with an eyeroll. Probably over bread crumbs.
She continued on.
There were no windows in the orphanage but judging by time, Skyler assumed that the sky was getting dark.
Time for bed.
She glanced in the direction of the bathing barrel and flinched, turning away quickly when she realized it was occupied.
A short girl was hunched over, hiding her body in the water, blonde hair dripping wet.
She shivered as the cool air hit her moist skin.
