Skyler nodded absent mindedly, not really listening to the conversation.
Jason gave her a sideways glance and rubbed her back comfortingly.
"Skyler are you Okay?"
He smiled softly.
She shook her head in defeat.
"I don't know but school isn't the same without Ella." She sighed.
Peter's attention perked up at that.
"I ran into Ella today. "
Skyler's head spun. "You did?"
Jason finished the question for her.
"What happened?" He prompted.
Peter's shoulders slumped.
"Well I saw her run into the wall. She fell over so I helped her pick up the papers but when she recognized me...she ran away. "
He finished. Skyler's heart sank.
"Didn't anything else happen?" At this point, Skyler didn't care if she sounded desperate. She just wanted her best friend back.
" why did she run into a wall?"
Jason sounded confused.
Peter shrugged. "She wasn't paying attention I guess. Though personally I've never done that. " he sniffed.
For a moment Skyler felt amused.
"Jason hasn't had great experiences with walls either. Isn't that right darling. " she teased.
Jason's face flushed. "Oh no... you still remember that?" He ducked his head in embarrassment.
Skyler smirked. "Every embarrassing second of it!"

Peter grinned. "What did he do?"
Skyler answered before Jason could object.
"Well Jason was angry with Kash right. He wanted to show me that he was strong enough to protect me...so" she tried to keep from laughing.
"He punched a wall. And it hurt too!"
She finished.
Holding in her amusement for Jason's sake, Peter laughed for her.
"That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!" He scoffed.
"It is isn't it?" Skyler agreed playfully.
Jason groaned. "Stop! We get it im dumb. Moment over!" He spluttered.
Skyler smiled, ruffling his hair.
He looked up as she spoke.
"Come on Jason. You know I'm just teasing."
Jason nodded, embarrassment dying down.
When Skyler's eyes lit up mischievously.
"But yet another reason why we don't punch walls." She winked.
Jason groaned and his company laughed.

At last they came to the parking lot.
Her amusement dying down, she turned to her companions. "Well that's our bus." She referred to Peter.
Jason nodded as she turned away but he stopped her with a hand on her shoulder.
"Skyler. " she turned to face him, blushing at the emotion in his voice. Guys didn't use that tone lightly. It grabbed her attention instantly.

Skyler looked into Jason's eyes.
"Skyler. I...I ....really care about you. I hate seeing you hurt. "
Skyler tried to speak up but he didn't allow her to.
"I know how much Ella means to you.
I understand how you are feeling. And I'm here for you. I always will be. "
He looked at her intently. It was clear that he had been thinking about this for a while.
Skyler gazed at the sweetest boy she had ever known.
"Jason... that...was beautiful." She breathed.
Jason smiled. "I wasn't trying to be poetic. I just thought that some honesty would cheer you up. " he winked, assuming the moment was over.
Skyler's heart thumped in her chest and she couldn't look away from him.
Kind blue eyes, dusty colored hair. The most perfect smile she had ever seen.
No one had ever shown her as much support as Jason had and right now that's all that mattered. She realized for the first time that she truly wasn't alone anymore.
Throwing her arms around him in a hug she smiled into the embrace.
"Thank you. " the phrase was simple but they both knew the meaning behind it was deeper. Jason knew that she couldn't put her strong emotions into words very well.
Living alone didn't teach her that skill. Knowing her as well as he did, that meant the world to him.

She pulled away gratefully.
"Good bye bluejay."
"Good bye skylercat. Everything is going to be Okay. "
Looking into his eyes, Skyler began to believe it. Everything would be Okay. Ella would come to her senses eventually even if it did take some time. Plus she had Jason and Peter now.

With a fond wave, Skyler joined Peter and climbed onto the bus.

Skyler gazed out the window aimlessly.
Her brown eyes partially closed as she watched the forest's green go by.
She sighed, turning to see that Peter wasn't doing much better than her.
His blue eyes were dull, shoulders slumped. His lips were pursed in a concerned manner.
Skyler felt an overwhelming pity for the young blonde. She placed a careful hand on his shoulder.
