Abhi's pov:

"So, you finally chose to show your true colors."

My voice echoed loudly in the small, isolated room, causing both of them to freeze in place. Yet, they didn't move apart.

He was standing far too close to her for my liking. The blood running through my veins seemed to burn with anger and possessiveness.

With a clenched jaw, I stepped forward, coming into view of my stunned wife. Her body seemed to relax a little when she saw me, which made me narrow my eyes. In that instant, I understood exactly what was happening here.

I walked further and stood between them, my broad frame shielding my petite wife. I was now facing the one and only Rudra Malhotra.

My cold eyes locked onto his furious ones, and everything seemed to disappear as we held eye contact. The atmosphere grew tense, neither of us willing to look away, as if doing so would signify weakness.

After what seemed like hours, though it was only a few minutes, his gaze shifted, attempting to look behind me at something that was mine, something I was fiercely possessive about.

"Don't you dare," I said in a calm, chilling voice, stopping him from looking past me. Behind me, Shivani remained stiff and frozen, her breaths so shallow I could barely feel them against my back.

I wanted to laugh at the absurdity of my situation. Here I was, face to face with the man I hated most-the same man my wife once ran away with. And now, I had found them alone together in an isolated place.

The sight of them together was enough to reignite the insecurities and fears I thought I had overcome long ago.

Shivani's hand gripped my right arm, and my body instantly stiffened at the intensity of her trembling.

"So, you finally chose to show your true colors," I repeated, my voice even colder, my eyes fixed on Rudra's face.

He eased back, raising an eyebrow at my statement and opening his mouth to reply. But before he could say anything, I had already turned my back on him.

My eyes met the anxious and fearful gaze of my wife, and tears soon brimmed in her eyes as she realized the sentence was directed at her, not him.

Something seemed to kick in her system, breaking her frozen state. "Abhi, no..." she rushed towards me, ready to explain, but I cut her off by gripping her jaw.

She stopped instantly, and I let the anger I had been trying to keep at bay finally take over. "Not bad, sweetheart," I said, squeezing her jaw. "How was the reunion?" I asked stonily, eyeing both her and him.

"Before you forget, let me remind you, sweetheart," I said, turning to Rudra, "he might have been the person you ran away with four years ago..." I turned back to Shivani, "but now you are my wife, not his lover." I completed, pushing her away from me. The fire of anger was clearly visible in my eyes.
