Abhimanyu's POV:

As I walked through the hospital corridors, my gaze landed on Shelly moving quietly behind Shivani. My brow furrowed as I tried to figure out what she was up to—Shelly and Shivani together was something that shouldn't happen after what I told Shivani yesterday.

Even though Shivani tried her best to calm me down last night, I knew how possessive and protective she is when it comes to me. That’s just who she is.

My eyes never left Shelly as my mind raced, trying to figure out what Shelly was upto.  She raised her hand And when it finally clicked, I didn’t waste a second. In a flash, I was between Shelly and Shivani, my body acting before my thoughts could catch up. Letting the hot coffee that Shelly was about to pour on Shivani spilled all over my front, the scalding liquid burning my skin instantly as my body shield my wife.

I tried my hardest to hold back any sounds of pain, but the burning sensation was too much. Despite my best efforts, a low, agonized growl escaped my lips, and my eyes squeezed shut as I fought through the sting.

My pained voice instantly caught Shivani’s attention, along with everyone else around. When I opened my eyes, she was already standing in front of me, her face filled with worry.  "Shelly, what the hell is wrong with you?" Shivani’s voice rose sharply, and the intensity in her words filled the corridor. "Can’t you keep your eyes where you are walking?"

My gaze locked on her for a moment as I fists my hand to control the burning sensation, then shifted to Shelly, and I could feel my expression turn cold as ice. How dare she thought to do that? The coffee was hot, hot enough to cause a major damage to anyone, may be a second degree burn.

“Abhi…” Shivani’s soft voice broke through my thoughts, making me look at her again. She reached out, her hand trembling slightly as she moved closer to check on me, the worry in her eyes impossible to miss.

Before she could touch me, I stepped back, knowing she was about to assist in surgery. I remembered overhearing her conversation with Dr. Samar in the car earlier—he was the surgeon she was assisting today. She didn’t have time to be distracted by this.

Shelly, who had been frozen in shock, suddenly rushed toward me. Her face was pale, her hands shaking as she tried to reach for the part where the coffee had burned me. "I’m so sorry, Abhi! I wasn’t thinking straight—" Her voice wavered, full of regret, but Shivani wasn’t about to let her get that close.

"Hands off my husband." Shivani’s words were ice-cold, her voice low only for us to hear but full of authority. The way said those words and pushed Shelly’s hand away sent a visible shiver down my spine. It wasn’t just a warning; it was a command.

Shelly flinched, clearly taken aback by the harshness of Shivani’s tone. She backed off immediately, her eyes wide and filled with regret, but she didn’t dare protest.
