Almost fifteen days later

Abhimanyu's POV:

"Abhi, this one or this one?" Shivani asked who was standing near our cupboard, holding up two dresses, one in each hand. I glanced up from my laptop screen briefly. "The right one," I answered, barely giving it a second thought before going back to my screen.

"Oh... so you don't like the left one?" she asked, her voice sounding a little dull. I glanced up again quickly. "No, it's good too," I said, but I was already refocusing on my laptop.

"Abhi," she sighed, clearly frustrated now. "You're not helping at all." She whined, dragging out the words in that dramatic way that always makes me smile. Tomorrow, after lunch, we were supposed to leave for Rishikesh around two, and almost everything was packed-except for the dress Shivani was holding, which seemed to have become the biggest decision of the day.

I finally glanced up properly, noticing how exhausted she looked. No wonder-she'd been running around all day, helping everyone in the house pack. She even went over to Anvi's place to handle her last-minute dress emergency while I just sat here working comfortably at home. And now, here she was, left packing for both me and herself, while I hadn't even offered to help.

"Kya yaar, Abhi, itni toh help kar hi sakta hai," I muttered to myself and looked back at the dresses, and for the life of me, I couldn't see the difference. Both looked practically the same, even the color.

I fought the urge to scratch my head in confusion. "Love, both dresses are almost the same, even the color is the same. Just pick one," I said, finally giving her more than a passing glance.

Shivani looked at me like I had just said the most ridiculous thing ever. "No, it's not, Abhi. Look, this one," she lifted her right hand slightly, "has full sleeves and is ruby red." Then she raised her left hand. "And this one is sleeveless and dark cherry red."

I looked at both dresses again, blinking slowly. They still looked almost identical to me, but her serious expression told me this was not a debate I was going to win. I gave her a look that said are you serious right now? and she shot back with an oh, hell, I am look.

Realizing this was a battle I couldn't win from my laptop, I shut it down and set it aside. The situation called for my full attention now. "Alright," I said, squinting at the dresses again like they were pieces of art. "Go with the full-sleeves one."

"But don't you like the dark cherry red one?" she asked, her voice dropping as she eyed the dress in her left hand like she was about to break up with it.

"Oh God, Shivani, if you like that one, just pick it!" I said, half-laughing, half-frustrated. She clearly knew what she wanted but still insisted on asking me.
