Author's POV:
Shelly chuckled bitterly at her brother's words, then abruptly got up from the sofa, her anger flaring. “Oh, really? Then what is this?” she demanded, throwing her phone onto the table in front of the sofa. Rudra's expression darkened as he glanced at the screen.
Her phone displayed a photo of Shivani and Abhi, their smiles radiant, their eyes locked in a moment of undeniable intimacy. Shelly had secretly screenshotted and shared it from Akansha's phone, a secret act that now felt like a ticking time bomb.
“You said they were divorcing soon, and that's why I wasn't creating more problems for them. That's why I was being good with Shivani,” Shelly vented, her voice a dangerous edge of fury and betrayal. But Rudra's eyes were fixed on the screen, specifically on Abhi's hand, possessively placed on Shivani's waist, a detail that spoke volumes.
The room seemed to grow colder, the shadows deeper, as the tension between them thickened. Rudra's silence was echoing,
Anger erupted within him like molten lava, his rage burning slowly just beneath the surface. If anyone had looked into his eyes, they would have seen the fire of fury burning in his soul, but his gaze remained fixed on the picture while Shelly was too consumed by her outburst to notice.
“You promised me, Bhai, that I would get my Abhi. You said Shivani would leave him on her own after I told her whatever you asked me to say.” Tears streamed down her cheeks, and her voice rose with every sentence, raw and desperate.
“Forget about separation—they're going to attend Vivek's and Anvi's engagement together tomorrow.” This sentence caught his attention like a knife to the heart.
“What did you say?” he asked, his voice dark and dangerous, a tone Shelly had never heard from her brother before. The room seemed to darken, shadows lengthening as his words hung in the air, heavy with danger and unspoken threats.
His tone made Shelly shut up instantly, and she looked at her brother as if she didn't recognize the person before her.
Rudra took a deep breath and closed his eyes, shutting the screen off Shelly's phone at the same time. If he looked at their happy faces and their closeness any longer, he knew he wouldn't be able to control himself.
He looked up at Shelly, but before making eye contact, he made sure to hide the devil that was about to take control of him.
“They are coming to Vivek's engagement?” he asked in a neutral tone this time, his face devoid of any emotions.
Shelly peered at her brother's face before nodding her head, “And they are coming together,” she said, emphasizing the word “together.”
“Then it's time,” he said with a clenched jaw, their pictures flashing in front of his eyes once more. Shelly looked at her brother in confusion. “Time for what, Bhai?”
