It felt like I was drowning for the rest of the day. The nearer the time for the carnival drew to me, the more anxious I felt until I was back at home in my room getting ready for it.
I stared in the mirror, questioning my outfit, doubting every combination I could come up with. Eventually, I settled on a pair of worn out jeans with a grey tee layered with my black hoodie and sneakers, running a hand through my hair to give it a perfectly tousled look.
My mind kept wandering back to what had happened in the bathroom and it made me even more nervous about going but it only meant that I had to go—I had to tell Casey that I wasn't interested in her, no matter how badly it would affect my standing with Tyler, now more than ever I needed to be honest—well maybe not entirely honest, but still.
The sun had just begun to kiss the Earth when I left my room, running into Liam, who was fully dressed and headed downstairs.
“Ugh, you're coming too?”
I groaned.
“Not like I was given a choice” He said flatly as we both headed downstairs, where mom and dad waited for us to take us there. We all piled into the car, and with dad at the wheel, the car drove down the street when I felt my phone buzz in my pocket, and I took it out to check the new messages in my group chat on insta with Ethan, Jazz, and Stephen.
