On Monday morning I had settled into Chemistry class, my mind still racing with everything that had happened over the weekend, leading to me being banned from going on the away game this coming Sunday.

Consumed by it all I'd completely forgotten about to test and only remembered when Mr. Rennis dropped the stack of papers on his desk before walking out saying that he'd be back soon.
My eyes met with Alec's as he stepped in but I couldn't hold his gaze, there were just too many problems trying to grab my attention all at once. And I wasn't shocked to see him walking past our table again but I was when he gently placed something on the table as he did.

I glanced around at him as he took a seat, his eyes finding mine with a sly wink. I stared down at my desk at the small pink box with a sticky note attached to it that read,
"Sorry for not texting, Hope these make you feel better. Good luck on the test,"

"Grounded!?" Ethan's confusion was evident. "Why would you take the blame for that?" He questioned as we all walked out to the lunch area.

"I don't know. It just happened. I wasn't thinking, and then I just said it was mine," I spoke softly, the words hanging in the air.
"Go easy on him Ethan, he just didn't want his brother to get in trouble." Jazz expressed, trying to ease the tension among the group, earning a small smile from me.

"Yeah Jazzy, but taking the fall for him won't solve anything," Stephen added.

"Well, it's done and over now, no need to make him feel any worse about it," Jazz remarked just as Tyler caught up with us, his eyes meeting mine.
"Lucas, can I talk to you?"
He asked.
I turned to my friends, Ethan and Stephen shared a similar, confused look while Jazz smiled knowingly, "Sure." I said.
