Lucas Carter is struggling to find his place after moving to Seacrest and enrolling in Seacrest High.
As he settles in with a new group of friends, Lucas becomes caught in a complicated love triangle with Tyler, a closeted jock, and Alec, a my...
His presence held me still for several fleeting seconds. His chiseled jawline, his sharp bulging muscles. He was a blend of ruggedness and gentleness, giving off a sense of strength coupled with approachability. His eyes, a mesmerizing hue of hazel green,

seemed like they contained a whole universe within them, harmonizing beautifully with his unruly tangle of wavy dirty blonde hair, as if the wind had recently tousled it in jest. Every strand appeared to possess a vitality, moving with an independent spirit, framing his pale ivory face and further enhancing his overall charm. "No problem," I replied, trying to steady myself. "Accidents happen."
He smiled in response, his eyes holding a glint of embarrassment as he scratched his head, "Yeah, sorry."
"Here's your ball," I said, extending it toward him. "Thanks," he replied, his smile lingering, as his fingers lightly brushed against mine. I felt a shiver at the touch, but I quickly shook it off as he cleared his throat. "You're new here, aren't you?" He asked. "Yeah I just moved today," I replied. "I'm Tyler." He said, offering his hand for a shake as he held his ball in the other, I took his hand, our palms touching briefly. "Lucas," I replied.

He released his grip as a grin lined his lips. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Lucas. I'll see you around?" "We're neighbors now, so, yeah, I guess," I rambled. "Okay, I'm going to get back to it now,"
"Yeah," I managed as I watched him jog back over to his house. My eyes couldn't help but linger on the flex of his muscles as he moved.
After he —Tyler— was gone, I carried a buoyant energy inside me back indoors. Collapsing onto my bed where a smile tried to break free on my face, lingering from our brief encounter.
As the evening turned into a dark night sky, I lay in bed, my mind tangled in anxiety about the days ahead. Despite my restless thoughts, exhaustion eventually took over. I found myself drifting into sleep, my worries slowly fading as the weight of fatigue drew me into a much-needed rest.

The next morning, I found myself seated in the passenger's side of my mom's car. As I sat beside her, my brother's loud phone conversation in the backseat only heightened my frustration, "I just don't get why I couldn't just start next term."
She glanced at me, her eyes sympathetic. "It's not that far into the term, Lucas. Your dad thought it would be best if you both started now and caught up on what you would've missed out instead of skipping a year."
"But...," I began to protest, but my mind went blank as I felt a lump form in my throat.
"You'll be okay, sweetie. Don't worry," she reassured me, her tone gentle and comforting. "I won't even know anyone there," I protested. "You'll have your brother," she countered. I paused, turning to glance at my brother in the backseat, who was loudly chatting away on his phone while chomping on the breakfast sandwich Mom had made us. Crumbs scattered everywhere as he talked animatedly, clearly oblivious to the mess he was making.

"No thank you," I replied flatly with a grimace.
"Then this will be a chance for you to make new friends," she said with a smile. I glanced out of the car window, my mood still heavy. The new town, the new school, everything felt unfamiliar and unwelcome. Soon the car came to a stop as my mom parked outside the school. She turned to me, her gaze gentle as she reached up to brush my cheek with a warm smile. "Just try to find something to like about this place."
"Okay, Mom," I said with a forced smile, trying to make the best of the situation. She smiled back, her expression a mix of encouragement and hope. "Have a good first day," she said.
I nodded, stepping out of the car. "Thanks, Mom."
I closed the door behind me, watching as she drove away. I sighed deeply, a mixture of uncertainty and resignation swirling within me. The new school stood before me, a daunting yet strangely hopeful sight. Just outside was an impressive plaque set into the stone wall near the entrance. The plaque was adorned with a sleek, polished sculpture, and the words "Seacrest High" were elegantly engraved beneath it. The metal gleamed under the morning sun, casting a reflection that seemed to shimmer with a promise of new beginnings.
Suddenly the school bell began to bellow, its echoing tones filling the air. A swarm of students hurried inside, their conversations blending into a chaos of sound. Watching kids around my age, some with excitement, others with dreadful familiarity, I felt like I was on the verge of stepping into a world in motion, about to become a part of it.
I found myself whispering those words like a mantra, a feeble attempt to muster up some hope: "New Beginnings."
