{Second Year, it finally begins}

Fred and George dismounted their brooms in a good mood. They were sure to become the new Gryffindor beaters, there was no-one at the try-outs like them. Fred left George talking to Lee Jordon whilst he went and put away his practice broom. As he walked into the tent there she was, putting away her own broom. Anertha Diggory. Fred had had a thing for her since his first year at Hogwarts last year, but she always avoided the twins because of their reckless behaviour.

'Hey' she said as she spotted him standing there. 'Great work out there, you and George are sure to make the team.'

 Fred's heart gave a flutter. 'She thought i was great?' He thought. 'Thanks' he smiled sheepishly back. 'You were good too.' Anertha had been trying out for the chaser position. Fred really hoped she got it, he would do anything to spend more time with her.

 'I'll see you around then.' Anertha said as she made her way to the exit.

'Wait.' Fred called after her. She turned to face him with a confused expression on her face. 'Can we talk?' Fred mumbled. For the first time Fred could remember he felt nervous about something. Anertha didn't say a word as she sat down on the bench, she just smiled and watched as Fred joined her. Fred didn't say anything for a while, he was trying to form the words in his head. 'Oh just do it' he told himself, 'you have nothing to lose.' 'Ok, here's the thing..' He began. 'I know you find me and George somewhat unbearable-' he got cut off by Anertha's sudden snort of laughter.

'Sorry.' She smiled. 'Carry on, but for the record, I don't find you unbearable, I find you actually quite funny.' She looked Fred straight in the eyes so he could see she wasn't lying.

'Um, well good' Fred grinned. 'Anertha, I want to say something. I don't care if you laugh or whatever but, I want to say it.' He paused, Anertha said nothing but looked at him expectantly. 'I..I like you...a lot, I mean you're smart, very pretty and well, watching you play Quidditch, made me like you even more.' Fred waited for her to laugh. But she didn't.

She took his hand instead and said. 'I had a feeling you did, I just assumed you were too busy setting off dungbombs to do anything about it. That's why i have been keeping my distance. Not because i didn't like you or found you irritating, but because i didn't want to get close to someone who put pranks before me.' She took a deep breath 'I guess what I'm saying is...I like you too Fred, I didn't at first. You can blame my brother for that, but you grew on me.' She gave Fred an adorable half smiled that made him want to kiss her.

 'Ah, yes, I forgot about Cedric.'

'Who cares about Cedric?' Anertha laughed as she reached forward and placed her lips upon Fred's. Fred's body lit up. He had been dreaming about this moment for ages, poor George had to put up with his constant longing. Fred pulled away and frowned. 'I'm not gonna find myself at the receiving end of your brother's fists am i? I mean we both know he hates me.' Anertha just shook her head.

'What's life without a little rebellion?' She smirked as she kissed him again. 'Besides, I'm sure you can find a way to deal with my brother if you did.' She winked. Fred couldn't believe it! She actually didn't care if he pranked her brother because she wanted to be with him! She really was the girl of his dreams. Fred leapt forwards and held her close as he kissed her once again.
