Stand off
Anertha was used to working alone in the shop. Fred and George were rarely seen on the shop floor, except for those rare occasions where they did displays and showed off. There was only one other worker in the store, Valerie. She was a lovely girl. Fred had hired her a while ago to help Anertha out. Nowadays Anertha couldn't deal with being on the till so she left it for Valerie to do whilst she focused on everything else. She was out back shifting boxes when Fred appeared in the doorway. 'Valerie said you were out here.' He smirked as he leant against the door frame. Anertha turned to look at him, smiling lovingly. 'Can I help you sir?' She smirked back. Fred moved towards her, wrapping his arms around her. 'Oh, I don't know...Maybe you could take a break and come spend some time with your boyfriend?' He gave a her a soft look before kissing her gently. She closed her eyes and melted into his kiss. 'You know I would love to, but I can't.' She complained, pouting her lips. I have boxes to shift because your ever so clever brother placed them in the way of the new stock display and I need to get out onto the shop floor.' A disappointed look crossed Fred's face, Anertha knew he was cursing George in his head. She picked up a box and placed it with the others she had previously moved. As she went back for another one Fred's hand grasped her arm. 'What are you doing?' He frowned. She became confused at his sudden change in behaviour. 'I'm moving boxes?' She shrugged, freeing her arm. 'Anertha you can't lift boxes by hand in your condition.' She rolled her eyes. 'Where is your wand?' She thought about this and couldn't remember where it was. 'You know....I have no idea. I think I put it down somewhere but I can't remember where. Besides I'm fine lifting them by hand.' She lifted another only to be stopped by Fred, he took it from her hands scowling, he placed it in her new pile. 'Anertha! You're six months pregnant! You could seriously do some damage lifting boxes like that!' He pointed to the box he just placed down. 'No matter what you say that box is not suitable for you to be lifting without a wand, which we must find! So until then go upstairs and chill.' He stood firm, his arms crossed. She stood staring at him, partially in shock at the way he had just addressed her but also partially very attracted to this new side of him. Neither of them said a word for a while. Valerie, the shop assistant, came to find them. 'Excuse me Miss Diggory, there is an issue with the register.' She spoke quietly, she had a sense that she had just walked into something. Anertha went to move but Fred stepped forwards first. 'Upstairs. I've got this.' Anertha let a sharp huff. 'Fred, it's my job. I have too much to do.' He raised an eyebrow and looked at her sternly. 'Upstairs Annie. Now. That's an end of it.' He walked out of the back room with a nervous Valerie. As Anertha followed a short time later she heard talking to the young girl. 'She's just a little stubborn, I love that in her really. She drives me crazy for sure but I still love her more than anything.' He went quiet. 'Ah, there's her wand. Don't tell her I found it, I'll just hide it for now.' He said tucking it in his jacket. 'She needs to chill out for a while, I don't want anything to happen to her or the twins. There we go Val, problem solved.' He smiled at her. 'Thank you Mr Weasley.' She half smiled. Fred climbed down from the counter and began making his way to the stairs. Anertha took that as her cue to keep moving up them so she wasn't seen. As she entered the flat above the shop she thought of Fred's words and smiled. She stood quietly in the hall as Fred came through the door shortly after. 'Annie you ok?' His eyebrows creased in concern as he held her arms. She smiled. 'Yeah, I was just.....thinking.' Fred kissed her forehead. 'Well, go in there and sit down and I'll bring you a treat.' He winked as he walked towards the kitchen. She chuckled as she watched him disappear whistling.
