The big fight
The sun shone merrily on the courtyard. Anertha sat in the cool shade reading the latest textbook. Fred had finally asked her out, she was alight with happiness. There was a niggling feeling within her though, it had been two weeks and she knew she had to tell Cedric at some stage before he found out elsewhere. This was a task she didn't really want to do, one she knew would be uncomfortable. She had just flicked over a page and begun scouring the next page when there was a commotion at the entrance to the castle. She looked up scowling slightly to find her brother had pushed through a group of first years and was now striding intently towards her, causing everyone he passed to watched eagerly.
'Oh no.' She whispered to herself as she stood to greet him. 'Cedric.' She smiled. He came to an abrupt halt in front of her, a look of pure anger in his eyes. He grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the onlookers, she moaned and squirmed as they went. 'Ow...Ced get off your hurting me.' She let go of her so harshly she almost span around and fell.
'Good.' He spat at her. She shook slightly, she had never seen him like this.
'Do you know what I found out today?' He shouted. 'Do you?!' She could feel tears forming in her eyes. She shook her head, praying it wasn't about Fred. He took a step forwards. 'Well, according to one of my friends you are dating Fred Weasley! He saw you after the Quidditch match last week! Do you have any idea how this affects my reputation? My twin sister dating a bloody Weasley!' Anertha wiped her tears and stood up tall against him.'Your reputation? For being a popular daddy's boy?! What I do doesn't have ANYTHING to do with you! It's my life Cedric! You haven't even asked me if it's true you just assumed!' She yelled back. Cedric didn't find this outburst surprising at all, he just said coolly.
'Ok, is it true?' He folded his arms as if he knew the answer, which he did.
'Yes.' Anertha looked to the floor briefly before looking him in the eyes again. 'It still has nothing to do with you.' Cedric took the book harshly from her hand and threw it down the discarded hall. She had been playing with the corners of the book the whole time, it wound him up.
'As I said Anertha, it's affecting my reputation. I'm a laughing stock! They think it's hilarious!' His face begun to turn red. Anertha's nostrils flared.
'I don't care what they think! Your friends are jerks! And they are turning you into one! I like Fred! I don't care if you don't! Your opinion means nothing to me!' She shoved him away from her, he stood still as stone.
'I'm only looking out for you Anertha.... You mean too much to me to be hurt by him.' She ignored him as she collected her book from down the hall.
She turned slightly towards him, her face partially hidden in the shadows. 'Maybe you care too much Cedric.' She said softly. 'I need to make my own mistakes, I don't need you controlling me for your own purposes.' She began to walk away.
'Trust me, this will be a mistake!' He called as she turned the corner, out of his sight.
She stopped just round the corner and cried lightly. She hated fighting with him, she heard him kick something as he walked back the other way, he hated fighting with her as well. Even if he did start it.
'Psst.'
She looked up to see where the noise had come from, she found Fred lurking in the shadows smiling at her. She lit up as he walked towards her.
'Is he gone?' He looked round the corner and nodded. 'Yup he is. Good. He did not sound impressed.' He looked back to her, her face was pale in shock.
'You heard him?' She whispered sheepishly.
'Well I heard both you, pretty hard not to actually.' He answered. He lifted her head with his hand. 'Hey, we will prove it's not a mistake. I promise.' He hugged her, soothing her. She tried not to laugh, he meant well but she knew Fred wasn't exactly made to be someone's loving boyfriend. However she would work on it, she was determined to prove Cedric wrong.
