{Goodbye Blossom}

Anertha had only buried her brother a week ago when tragedy struck her again.
Anertha?' Her mother called from downstairs. She reluctantly made her way down and peered into the kitchen. 'Yes?' She croaked, her throat dry from crying. 'Sit, have some breakfast...please.' Anertha sighed and sat picking at her food, she had no appetite. She frowned after a while. 'Mum, have you seen Blossom?' Her mother froze. 'Well....No dear I haven't.' She wasn't convince by her mother's delay. 'Mother?' She threw her toast aside and scowled. 'Where is my owl?' She felt a pit form in her stomach. 'Mother?!' 'Alright?' Her mother snapped back. 'She in the outhouse!' Anertha left at once, trudging across the dewy grass to the outhouse. She threw the door open. 'Fred?!' She jumped, startled. He looked up from from a dark shadow, his dace grim. Anertha didn't ask what he was doing here, she ran forwards and looked into the dim light of a candle. Her once beautiful tawny owl was laying on the soft makeshift bed, ragged and small. 'Blossom?' She she creaked, looking to Fred. 'I found her a few days ago in the wood, it seems she was attacked by something, i brought her straight here. Your parents told me to keep her here, we have tried to treat her but it's no use.' Tears filled her eyes. 'Why did you keep this from me?' He took her hand and a brief breath. 'You had been through enough pain, we hoped to heal her.' Anertha sniffed and looked down at her dying owl, she fell to her needs. She began stroking her feathers, feeling it breath small shallow breathes. Blossom let out a small chirp and looked to her owner. 'Shhhh, I'm here.' She stroked her once more and hummed a little tune. Little time passed and Anertha noticed Blossom closing her eyes, taking a few more deep breathes. She leant forwards and kissed her small head, she chirped quickly once more. 'Shhh sleep now, be with Cedric. He will look after you now.' Blossom closed her eyes, her chest rose no more. Anertha broke into tears, feeling Fred place his arms around her. Was everyone to leave her? Was she to be alone? Her and Fred were joined by her parents, they placed Blossom in a small hole next to Cedric himself. 'Look after her brother.' She cried before she left them both behind.
