Chapter 11. A Night of Painful Banishment, or Death?

Morgana and Patience woke early in the day as usual; though dreading their duties of the night to come. They had spent several day talking over the necessary supplies they would be taking up to the mountaintop with them. It would take them all day long to ready the alter for what was to come in the night of banishment for the two from the village. They would have a lot of work to do this day; starting with a ritual cleansing for both of them, only this time Patience would not be sent away for the evening, she would be assisting during the ceremony; if you can call it that.

When Marissa hauled the wife away from the shaman's house to talk to her about what her new husband did in the woods; and what it meant to both him and the village, she decided to join him when he was banished from the village. Being in love with him, even if it meant never seeing her loved one ever again. She chose to be with her husband over her family. Marissa approved her decision after a lengthy talk with her, and a talk with the wife's tearful parents. In the end they agreed to what their daughter's wishes were; and accepted them reluctantly.

Morgana and Patience, after their cleansing started loading up the baskets of herbs resins and potions they would need along with the specially made candles and headed up to the mountain top to set up the alter. This would be the first of may trips they would be making this day to bring all the necessary tool and ingredients up to perform a double banishment. Twice the Herbs, resins, potions, and other necessities.

By their forth trip, the alter was completely set up, the huge caldron was moved from the center of the open field over to the side of the alterthat one thing alone took them both a good hour to drag overset up with the proper herbs and resins of the goddess of the moon. Then Morgana went about blessing the caldron and alter for what was to come, shielding it in a shaman light till they were back.

The only ones that would be there this night would be Marissa, Nadine, the husband and wife, and Morgana and Patience. For banishment only the offenders and the tribal leaders as watchers were allowed for safety reasons.

As the light of the day grew long and the sky grew a pale orangery in color, time was growing shorter for the couple. The man was rousted from his four day slumber by the shaman pair with a spell that Morgana taught Patience for the last four days so she would know it by heart. They began the chant holding hands over the body summoning the shaman power from deep within Morgana to flow between both women now. Their joined hands began to glow as they started their chant:

Death Like Sleep, Nary A Peep,

Awake From The Deep, No More Shall Ye Sleep.

Ye Listen Light, Ye Listen Right,

Ye Put Up No Fight, Ye Do What Is Right.

Orders Given, Must Be Heeded,

Awaken To The Liven, Ye Shall Be Conceded

Arise”

The second they spoke the last word of the chant the mans eyes opened and he drew in a sharp breath of air, it startled Patience to the point where she almost pulled away from Morgana's tightly clasped hands. Startled, she looked first down at the man then back up at Morgana, into her violet eyes. “Ya did very well Patience. Hold on for a little longer.” Morgana told her she was finishing up with her powers, pushing them into the man they just woke up to heal him from having been laying out unmoving for almost five straight days. Morgana released Patience hands and helped the man into a sitting position on the table. “Sit here and rest a bit ya be weak from not eating for a few suns Patience some fruit for the man please.”
