Chapter 22 The End of the Old Ways
The trek up the North face of the mountain was an arduous one for three women. They started at first light to find the mysterious second sacred site opposite Alter Mountain as per Patience's dream. The day before Morgana and Patience paid Aleska another visit to tell her of their discovery and to ask her for her help. Now here the three are trudging up a brier and weed packed trail trying to fight their way to the top just to see if it is still there. Checking to see if it is set up like Alter Mountain, or if they will have to go through all the work to build one in its place.
Fighting their way up, clearing a path as they go wide enough for two people side by side in case they have to bring up supplies, they finally make it up the last bend to find a run down old wooden altar carved from a solid piece of redwood with one of the supports broken. The whole area is overgrown and in need of clearing with no direct line of sight to the East—which they will have to cut all in two days time. The only line of sight is to the West Alter Mountain. Alter Mountain to the West on the other hand, has a clear line of sight to the East, North, and South.
With the villagers helping out, clearing trees and brush up on the mountain they managed to finish up all the land clearing to give the Northern Mountain a clear line of sight to the East and South in record breaking time. They replaced the one altar leg that was broken and the other one that was rotting away, and cleaned the top surface of the altar then had another fire-pit bought up. This was the fastest they have had to get things done, but with only 2 days till the duality—a day with both the sun and moon in the sky—they had to rush to get everything done.
Three alters setup, bonfire pits built and filled with wood, and the proper herbs awaiting the sacrificial offering per fire. They have been going over every little detain that could possibly go wrong—shy of a death of any one, or all three of them before, during, or after the rite of vanquish. They are ready.
The whole village is under a mandatory lockdown, everyone is to stay within their homes till the sun goes down, windows covered, doors bolted and blocked tight. All animals are to be brought into barns and secured within; so as they are not wandering around. Morgana has issued instructions that not a living creature is to be wandering the village during the time of sun up to sun down for the protection of the entire community; this is to prevent the Dark Witch from shifting from her body to another during the rite of vanquish.
The Time Nears.
Three shadowy figures exit the domain of the shaman's residence all with a singular purpose in mind. Put a stop to The Dark Witch and bring back peace to the fine village of Red Dawn and all its people within. They each take their respective paths to ready themselves for the final rite of vanquish. Morgana is to start it in the high sun with Patience taking her lead there after. Then together they will send their combined powers to Aleska the Witch to add to her earthly powers before sending them along with the final spell to bring down The Dark Witch once and for all. At least that is what they are shooting for.
With Morgana high up to the West up on Alter mountain, She lights the first fire of the early morning light her offering of her blood. It Burns Brightly.
To the North Patience sets alight the second of three fires up on the old Alter mountain—though one so newly found to them—the fire blazes high into the morning sky after her blood offering. It Burns Brightly.
To the East a solitary Witch kindles her fire with her blood offering added—the largest of the three fires—she waits for the flames to lick the sky, she waits to begin. It Burns Brightly. It is time to begin.
They are ready the Sun & Moon Rise!
From the West: By the powers of the God of daylight, of the almighty I ask for your guidance. I ask for your light, your assistance to fight that which is evil of the dark of night. Fight with me, Fight with us oh God of the day Ra I beg of the.
From the North: By the powers of the Goddess of darkness, of her grace I ask of the, powers of the night, the powers of your guiding light. Assist me in this plight, an evil we must fight. Join me, join us, oh Goddess Selene of the night, help us this day join us in this fight.
From the East: I join these powers from God with Goddess, to them I add the powers of Mother Earth. Oh Great Mother hears me, ground me. Grand me thine power to bind these powers with thine powers of binding three times three and wrap the powers of the Great God and Goddess sending them out to bind and eliminate the one true evil of the South. One Skylartar, a sistar' Witch of pure Dark Evil. Bind and eliminate from these lands for all of the time. I ask you this in the name of the Great Mother. Earth the God Ra, and Goddess Selene.
A tremendous roar and bright flash of light burst from all three areas lighting up both mountains in a brilliant blue light, and the ground around the Witch before the entire South started to glow red with the heat and the fires of Haiti. The Dark Witch Skylartar was being consumed in the hellfire of the earth, sun and the moon. Screams could be heard from every direction throughout the lands of The Red Dawn Village. Ungodly screams above the roar of the southern most screams of the Evil being consumed.
When it was finally over a hush fell over the lands; a mist blew in. Fog covered everything settling over everything; the fields, roads, and covering all the houses and barns. There was a total change going on throughout the lands. The fog lasted the rest of the day into the night till the next sunrise.
First Light.
A new day a new village. The people emerge from their homes to find not but their old ways of life, but a motor car in the center of the village parked, with people out wandering around taking pictures of their fair village. The once clean air is now gray, and has a strange smell to it, and cold; bitter cold. The sun is not as bright up in the sky as normal either. The clouds cover it with a hazy gray color, and there is no longer a bright blue only a washed out gray/blue in its place. When they head over to the shaman's house they find it is empty and abandoned—as if no one has ever used it in years—the world has changed in the village of Red Dawn.
Take away all Evil, and you have to replace it with something; that something is: ?
The End
