                              Chapter 17 One Month & A Day

It had been so quiet over the past month in the village. Morgana and Patience had spent just about all their time training either in the prep room, or out in the garden out back planting, expanding a new garden for the two of them. They have made several trips up to alter mountain to spruce thing up, and re-arrange the large clearing, dragging the cauldron back to the center of, and building two new stone fire pits for ceremonies. Those took them the better part of a week to finish.

Now they are working on potion bottles that will keep for months at the ready should they need them for emergencies. They have made a complete supply of bandages and collected all necessary herbs chopped and stowed away in jars with proper labels and at the ready.

They are just about out of things to do beside sitting around studying, or heading out to work the fields of the villagers to keep their boredom at bay. Yes it is that slow for them as of late.

All the farms in the village have been put back together, and leveled back down. The farmers have replanted most of their crops and Morgana and Patience have done their rain dance to water the fields. All is as it should be.

Life in the village has settled down into a very quiet time for once in a very long time. Something is off, very off about the village, and they feel it is about to come crashing down upon them at any minute.

Morgana and Patience set off early one morning followed closely by Dog as they tread out on a walkabout to visit with people of the village. First stopping in with Patience’s mother.

“Morn Scarlett. How ya be?” Morgana inquired. Patience disappeared into the small family kitchen to go fetch some tea for the three of them. Dog curled up on the front stoop to await the return of the two Shaman woman, Dog was always waiting patiently out front for their return come rain or shine.

“I be good thank ye, to what do I owe the pleasure of ya company ta day?” Scarlett asked.

“It be quiet, we be out visiting. We stop to see ya on way ta see others.” Morgana looked up as Patience entered carrying a try filled with tea items. She set the tray down on the small table and filled all three cups sitting on their respective plates with tea and handed her mother a cup first then another Morgana before settling into the couch with her own cup with her bare feet curled up under her. The three sat and visited for over an hour chatting very peacefully, quite to the surprise of Patience. Her and her mother were usually at odds with each other when they were alone. Now they were having a civil conversation.

They left Scarlott's house then headed out to check on more of the villagers west of town. Each family they visited were pretty much the same as the last, all well and good. They made their way back home late in the day after checking in on more then a dozen homes and farms.

                              All was too quiet.

                              Too Quiet!
