Sai was safe, but the questions remained. Who had taken him? And why? Was it someone from the agency? A rival?

And why hadn’t they killed him?

When Sai finally woke up, he was shaken, scared in a way I hadn’t seen before. I asked him who had done this, but his answer only added to the mystery.

“I don’t know… I couldn’t see their face. It was all blurry.”

I felt a pang of guilt something unfamiliar and unwelcome. Sai had been caught up in something that should have never involved him. And now, because of me, he had suffered.

As I held him close, feeling the trembling in his body, I made a silent promise. Whoever had done this, I would find them. And when I did, they would regret ever crossing me.
