One day, after yet another long shoot, Sai caught up with me as I was leaving the studio. "Kazuki, wait up!" he called, jogging over to me. I stopped, though I didn’t turn to face him.
"Look, I know you’re not really into making friends here," he said, his tone more serious than usual. "But I’ve noticed something about you. You’re always so… distant. Like there’s something more going on behind that perfect exterior."
I finally turned to look at him, my expression unreadable. "What are you getting at?"
Sai shrugged, a small smile playing on his lips. "I’m just saying… we’re more alike than you think. I get it, you know? The pressure, the expectations. The need to keep up appearances."
I didn’t respond. His words hung in the air, and for a moment, I wondered if he could really see through the mask I had so carefully crafted. But then he laughed, breaking the tension. "Anyway, I’ll see you tomorrow, Kazuki. Take it easy."
As he walked away, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something had shifted. Sai wasn’t just a nuisance anymore he was a threat. And threats had to be eliminated.
But this time, I couldn’t act impulsively. I had to be smart. Sai was more dangerous than he seemed, and I needed to find a way to deal with him without drawing attention.
The game was on, and I wasn’t planning to lose.
