Sayuri's survival had become a loose end a dangerous one. Even in her coma, the possibility that she could wake up someday haunted me. It wasn’t enough to simply remove her from my life temporarily. I needed to eliminate the risk entirely.

Hospitals were tricky, filled with security, cameras, and constant movement. But I was patient, meticulous. I knew that if I waited for the right moment, I could act without raising suspicion.

I visited Sayuri’s hospital room, playing the part of the concerned fiancé. The nurses smiled, oblivious to the truth behind my visit. I sat by her bed, watching her as she lay there, so vulnerable, so close to death.

In my pocket, I carried a small syringe. It was something I had carefully prepared colorless, odorless, and quick. No one would know. They would think she had simply passed away in her sleep, a tragic end to a long, unexplained coma.

I waited until the nurse left the room to give us privacy. My hand tightened around the syringe. This was the moment. The final step in my plan.

I leaned over her, whispering softly. "You were never meant to be a part of my life, Sayuri. This is goodbye."

With a quick, practiced motion, I injected the contents of the syringe into her IV. It only took a few seconds, and then I sat back, watching her face for any sign of change. Nothing. She looked as peaceful as ever.

I stayed for a while, just to be sure. When I was confident that she was gone, I left the room, calmly walking past the nurses. No one suspected a thing. To them, I was still the perfect fiancé, the perfect man.

Later that night, the news came. Sayuri had passed away in her sleep. The doctors were baffled, but they chalked it up to complications from the coma. Her family was devastated, and my parents offered their condolences. The engagement was now a thing of the past, a distant memory.

And I? I felt nothing but relief. Sayuri was gone, and with her, any threat to my perfect life.

The mask remained in place, flawless as ever.
