It was a vicious cycle one that I couldn’t break, no matter how hard I tried. The darkness would recede for a while, giving me the illusion of control, but it always came back, stronger than before.
And when it did, I had no choice but to give in.
I found another target. This time, it was a man someone who worked late at night, walking the empty streets alone. He was easy prey, and I took him down without a second thought.
But even as I felt the familiar rush, there was something hollow about it this time. The satisfaction didn’t last, and I found myself thinking about Sai again. About how different things had been when I wasn’t giving in to the darkness.
But I couldn’t stop. This was who I was who I would always be.
