Chapter 20- last day party

Henry's pov
It's been a few weeks since the whole time travel incident. Bianca and I have gone on quite a few dates and things are going really well. We're getting really close and winter seems totally fine with it. And I mean it this time. Winter and I still hang out a lot and are best friends and I think everyone is happy with that. These past few weeks have been really peaceful in a drama sense. Work wise, however has been brutal. Of course it's the end of the year and the teachers realize that there's all this stuff they haven't done so it all gets piled on in the last few weeks. (A/N that happens to me all the time! This year I went through three math units in three weeks!) Everything has been great, but every once in a while I get this weird feeling of something missing. But I can't quite put my finger on what it is. Maybe I'll figure it out eventually, but today is finally the last day! We are almost free!

Winters pov
It is finally the last day of school! It will make it so much easier to train when I don't have to balance with my homework. Literally, I've had to do my homework while on a balance beam. These last few weeks have been hard though. But because of schoolwork not because of henry! We've been absolutely fine lately. We're still best friends and hang out all the time even though he's dating Bianca. What changed you might ask? Well ever since the whole time travel incident, (which we still haven't told anyone about so don't say anything!😉) I realized that I really and truly care about henry. And if I truly care about him, I want him to be happy. And if Bianca is what makes him happy, then I totally support that. But something still feels missing. I'm not quite sure what it is. But it doesn't matter. Right now I have to get ready for the last day! I got dressed and packed my backpack and headed to the man cave to grab a granola bar for breakfast. Ray came in. "Hey kiddo! Ready for the last day of school?" I nodded. "Oh yeah! And with school out for the summer, I have all the more time to train!" I said excitedly. Ray frowned. "Winter, I know I said that you had to train hard, and you have been, but I also want for you to have some fun once in a while. My father completely took over my life and made it all about training and I missed out on a bunch of the good things kids should experience, but I don't want that to happen to you. You should try to have some fun once a while! Its summer! Go to the beach, eat some junk food do some crazy things for fun!" I smiled. "Well that does sound like fun. I guess your right, I'll try to have more fun! Bye!" I ran to the tube. I walked to school and to my locker. "Summer at last!" Henry said from behind me. I turned around. "Well don't think we're free yet! We still have to survive today. We have the last math test." Henry groaned. "Don't remind me. Another day of math! But we just have to make it through one more day then it's off to the beaches and sun and summer!" I smiled. "Yeah I've never had summer vacation before. Ray told me the weirdest thing! He said that instead of training all summer I should have fun!" Henry laughed. "Well yeah! It's summer vacation! That's what it's for! To blow off all responsibility and just have fun!" "I guess I just don't really know what to do." I said and he grinned. "Lucky for you, you have an awesome best friend who is an expert in fun! First on the list for a crazy awesome fun summer, celebrating the end of school!" I raised my eyebrows. "How are we going to do that?" As if on cue, Angela jones came running up to us. Her family is super rich but she's always nice to everyone. "Happy end of school! So are you guys coming to my annual end of the year party?!" She asked excitedly. Henry nodded. "You bet! Your party's rock!" She blushed. "Thanks. See you guys there!" She said before running off again. "You were saying?" He grinned at me. "A party? I don't know. I've never really been to a party before. Except for the dance. And that didn't go so well." "Oh come on! Her parties always are the best! Her house is huge they have so much food, great music, a pool and hot tub, and a trampoline, they have a bonfire and fireworks! Please?" His eyes got all big. Then Bianca came over and kissed henry. "Hey babe! So we're going to the party together right?" He nodded. "Yeah we are." He said. "Are you going winter?" She asked and henry looked at me. I sighed. "I guess I am!" I said and she smiled. "Cool see you there!" She said and then henry and her walked away. Charlotte and Jasper came over to me. "So your going to the party?" She asked and I nodded. "Yeah. What do I wear to a party?" I asked. "It's a party! Wear whatever you want!" Jasper said. "Okay. What do you do at a party?" I asked. "It's not about what you wear or what is planned to do. It's just about having fun! And you picked just the right one for your first party! Angela's parties are always great!" I smiled. "So I keep hearing!" "Wait. You've never been to a party before?" Jasper asked. Charlotte and i exchanged glances. "No because I didn't really have any friends to go to parties for in homeschool." That wasn't a lie. I was homeschooled and I didn't have any friends. He seemed satisfied. Unfortunately, I was not. All day I could not get rid of my nerves despite what Charlotte and jasper said about having fun. To me, it sounds loud, and like a competition to have the best dance moves and be surrounded by the most people. It sounds like an event for popularity, which I haven't been popular my whole life. This just doesn't sound like my thing. Maybe I can just go so henry and Charlotte see that I was there, then sneak out after a few minutes. But what if they pull me info some activity that will take a while? I'll just have to figure it out when I get there. This was what was going through my head for most of the day even during my math test. Don't be surprised when that grade comes back. By the last class I was ready to get out. I sat next to henry and we were tapping out pencils anxiously on the table. "Only ten more minutes till CAFS!" Henry said excitedly. I looked at him. "CAFS?" I questioned. "Crazy Awesome Fun Summer! I turned it into an acronym." "Okay if you say so." I said sarcastically. Seven minutes. "Why does the teacher bother to talk until the very last minute? Doesn't he know none of us are listening?" I whispered and henry laughed. "Is there something amusing going on back there?" The teacher raised his eyebrows at us. "No sir. We're just excited to get out of here." The teacher nodded. "So am I but you don't see me jumping the gun so you don't get to either." We nodded and he continued babbling. Five minutes. I was staring at the clock now. Four minutes. Three minutes. Two minutes. One minute. We started quietly chanting. "Ten. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five. Four. THREE. TWO! ONE!!" The bell rang and we all jumped up and ran out the door. I got to my locker an started taking down the photos id hung up and other stuff. I found a picture of henry and I at the snack bar on our first date. Before everything got bad. I started to get that weird feeling again. I still don't know what it is though. "You still have that?" Someone said and I spun around and swung. Luckily I missed Henry's face. "Jeez! Don't do that!" I said sighing. "Sorry! Next time I'll wear protective headgear! You kept that photo of us?" I nodded. "Yeah. I had a good time and it was the first time I actually felt normal for once." I said. Things got kind of quiet and awkward. "Um so I'll see you at the party tonight?" Henry asked. "Yeah totally! Bye!" I said and shut my locker and left. I went to my room and started looking for something to wear. Unfortunately I found absolutely nothing. So I decided to use the design closet. I found it in the storage room. I pulled it out and put it in the man cave. I started to think about what kind of outfit I wanted to wear. Obviously it had tons summer wear, and it should be nice but casual. Immediately I thought to wear purple, but then I realized that was what everyone expected me to wear. This time I wanted to do the unexpected. I decided that maybe what was missing from my life was the adventure. I don't take risks anymore. I feel like I've fallen into a pattern. So I decided that I was going with pink. And I really went all out in the pink. But the outfit looked great and now it was time to head out. I made sure to grab my mint green bikini with gold patterns just in case I am somehow convinced to go swimming. Then I left and started walking to the party. I walked as slow as possible so I could put it off longer. Then I started walking up her long driveway. It was lined with apple trees and very nearly kept gardens and lawns. Finally the house came into view. But it was less like a house and more like a mansion that had a gallon of growth serum dumped on it. It was a niece white and had at least three floors not including the towers. It had a big round about with an elaborate fountain in the middle. I could hear the noise of the party around the back so I knew I was in the right place. I approached the giant double doors and knocked with the metal handle. The door opened and a man wearing a suit looked at me. "May I help you?" He asked. "Yes. I'm here for the party that Angela jones invited me to." I said a little nervously. "I see. Let me check the guest list." He started searching through a clipboard of papers. "Your name?" He asked. "Winter smith." I said and he looked. "Don't bother checking Albert I invited her trust me let her in!" Angela called from behind me. "Alright miss jones. Welcome miss. Smith." He said moving to the side revealing the biggest entryway I've ever seen with a grand staircase in the middle and paintings of people all over the walls and hallways leading to various rooms. "Hi winter! That was our butler Albert. He can be a little bit formal. You look great! Very pink! It's a good color on you!" She said smiling. "Thanks! You live here?" I said in shock. "Yep! Every day of the year! Unless mommy and daddy are on their annual business trip to Miami, then we're in our estate over there." "Your parents work together?" I asked. "Yeah. They own their own chain of technology companies." My jaw dropped. "This place mid have cost a million dollars!" I said. "Six million actually. But enough about my family! Right now it's time to party!" She dragged me through about fifty rooms before we reached a wall of glass windows. Exocet one was a door that led out to a huge porch and backyard with a pool and water slide, trampoline, and beach chairs set up everywhere and a ready to be burned bonfire set up farther away. Many kids were already there. The place was decorated with lights and all kinds of cool stuff! There was even a stage facing everything! "This is awesome! But what's the stage for?" I asked. "Okay this was supposed to be a surprise so you can't tell anyone. But what if I told you that this was going to be the best party yet?" "I would ask why is it the best party yet?" She grinned. Her voice fell to a whisper. "Because someone really special is coming to perform! And that someone may just be Taylor swift!" I nearly fell over. "TAYLOR SWIFT IS PERFORMING!" She shushed me. "Be quiet! It's a surprise! But yes." I calmed down. "How did you get Taylor swift to perform?!" I whisper shouted. "Well my mom hired her to be in an ad for a new line of phones a while ago and they kept in contact so now she's a family friend and is almost like my aunt!" I laughed. "Huh! Who knew such a small city would have its connections!" I said surprised. Some people started calling her over so she had to go. "I'll see you later! Remember it's a surprise!" She said winking and I have her the thumbs up as she walked away. So I stood there alone looking around. I felt a sensation of panic. I didn't belong there. This was for people like Angela. Maybe I could leave but I have no idea how to make my way back through that huge house without asking for help but then people would know I left. I continued looking around to find down one I knew. She must have invited the whole school! Then I spotted henry and Bianca on the dance floor. Henry looked good and Bianca looked amazing as usual. They are like the eighth grades hottest couple. At least there were a few people I know here. I made my way over to the snack table to get some punch. Henry must have spotted me because in a flash he was by my side with Bianca. "Winter! You came! And your wearing pink!" He said surprised. "Yeah I decided to change it up a bit!" I said. "Well you look great!" Bianca said. "You really do. Now who's ready to kick off your first party?! I hope you brought your swimsuit because we're hitting the pool!" I laughed. I forgot everything I was worried about. I found Charlotte and we changed into our swimsuits and went back out. "Now you start by sliding!" He pointed at the long slide going through the stone wall. On top of the rocks was a diving board that must have been fifteen feet above the water. "I don't know." I said hesitantly. "Oh come on you'll love it I guarantee it!" I nodded. "Okay but if I die you'll be the first one I come back and haunt!" I went up to the top with henry, Bianca and Charlotte. First Charlotte went down, then Bianca sat down with henry behind her and he wrapped his legs around her and they went down. I could see them all gather at the top and look up at me. "Come on winter it's fun!" Henry called. I sighed. If I wasn't afraid to hang over a cliff facing certain death then I certainly wasn't afraid of this. I stepped back a few feet, then I ran and dive head first down the slide. I flew right down and was spat out the end going fifty miles an hour. Everyone cheered as I swam off to the side. "That was awesome!" Charlotte said smiling and so did I. "If you think that was cool wait till you see this!" I climbed back out and went up to the tall diving board. I ran and did a cartwheel, then a back handspring then a triple back tuck off the Baird before doing a straight dive into the water. That really got everyone around the pools attention. We swam and messed around on the pool for a while until we got out. We dried off and changed back into our regular clothes. "Now it's time for activity number two! Trampoline! Always eat after anything bouncy otherwise you get a Jasper at Charlottes birthday party in fifth grade when he ate to much and puked in the bouncy house scenario." We all shuttered at the thought. Then we headed to the giant trampoline and I mean GIANT! It was probably about twenty feet by forty feet. I showed them how to do all these fancy flips I got from training. We bounced until we got hungry then we got off and went to the snack table. There was probably about every picnic food you could think of. Burgers, hot dogs, tofu burgers for vegetarians, popcorn, candy, pretzels, watermelon, lots of desserts, fruits and vegetables, about every kind of chips. Little meats and cheeses on toothpicks, etc. etc. We got our food. I had a cheeseburger with chips and pretzels and watermelon with some root beer. We found some beach chairs and sat down. "I don't know what is as so worried about! Parties are so much fun!" I said when henry and I were the first ones there. "I told you! And those moves you pulled on the trampoline and in the pool were amazing!" He said. "Well I guess all that training does me good!" He nodded. "I agree!" Then everyone else came over and we are our dinners together. After that it was starting to get dark and we felt like dancing so we headed to the dance floor in front of the stage. Only a few minutes had passed before Angela came running over all in a panic. "Winter! We have a big problem! The 'you know who' who was supposed to be here right now is late!" She was talking about Taylor swift. "That's terrible!" I said. "Well now I need someone to be like an opening act for her. Someone super talented. Someone like, you?" I froze. "What?! Me?! Why would you even think I would be a good opener?!" She smiled. "Because I was at the dance! Your amazing! Please! I need someone to sing!" Henry, Jasper, Charlotte, and Bianca all started encouraging. Finally I gave in. "Alright I'll do it!" I said and they cheered. Before I knew it I was on stage and everyone stopped and stared at me. "Uh hi everyone. So I guess there is a special someone performing later, but she's running a little late! So I guess I'll be opening for her. So yeah this is called fight song by Rachel platten. One of my favorite songs and I hope you like it and I'll jus shit up and sing now." The music started and I felt excited.

Despite my original assumption that everyone would boo people cheered like crazy. They loved me! This was amazing! I thanked everyone and walked off stage. When I got down henry, Charlotte, Bianca, Jasper, and Angela were waiting for me. "You were great! Like, amazing!" Charlotte said. "Thanks! I was just surprised I didn't throw up!" I said honestly. "I think you were awesome! And there's someone I want you to meet." Angela said excitedly. "Your Taylor swift!" I said as she reached out a hand for me to shake. "I am. You have a really good voice, I'm glad to have you open for me! Angela told me you were good and I had to hear it for myself." I smiled. My brain wouldn't work. This was awesome! "Um um Thank you! Just wow your Taylor swift!" She smiled. "I get that reaction a lot. I'd love to stay and talk but I have got to get on stage! Talk to you guys later!" She said waving and going out on stage. "I can't believe I just met Taylor swift and she said I had a great voice! This is the best party ever!" Everyone laughed as we went back to the dance floor for the concert. Taylor started off with shake it off and ended up singing bad blood. And we danced and cheered and sing like idiots the whole time. "She was never late was she?" I yelled to Angela. "Nope! I just wanted her to hear you sing!" I playfully punched her in the arm. Afterwards we were all given sparklers and we went further into the back yard and lit them. We made fun shapes and henry and Bianca put theirs together to make bigger sparks. Afterwards a giant bonfire lit up before our eyes and we all sat around and make s'mores. Henry and Bianca were feeding each other drippy s'mores and they made a mess before kissing. They really do look good together. Someone had a guitar so they played and everyone sang. Which soon turned into telling stories and jokes. And after a while big fancy fireworks lit up the sky and we all cheered. So this is what summer vacation is like? I hope the feeling never goes away. When the party ended we all decided to walk home together. After while it was just me and henry and we got to the man cave. "I'm glad you came to the party winter. It wouldn't have been as much fun without you there." I smiled. "Thank you for convincing me to go! I would never have had all this fun if it wasn't for you! I can't wait for what we're going to do next." He grinned. "Neither can I. Goodnight winter." I smiled and opened the door. "Goodnight henry." I walked inside. I was feeling pretty amazing right now. Yet somehow I still felt like something was missing. I still felt like something was out of place. But by now I was too tired to care what it is.
