Chapter 15- the dance part one

Winters pov
Henry and I were out getting milkshakes and just chilling. "We should be able to do this more often. I mean we go on like one date a week! We don't get to spend time together!" Henry whined. "It's not our fault we have busy jobs. And we see each other all the time at school and work!" I said. "That's not the same." He frowned. "I don't care. I don't care if we don't go on dates because just being near you is enough for me." He smiled and kissed me. "And are you seriously complaining about having the coolest job on the planet?" I cocked an eyebrow. Then his watch and my ring started triple beeping. "Speaking of. I love our job, I just hate running off all the time." He said as we stood up and threw our cups away. "Fair enough." I said and henry took my hand and we ran to Junk'N'Stuff. Apparently there was man who had been trying to climb the Swellview cliffs but his cable broke and now he's just hanging. We blew out bubbles and sped to the scene. We got there where the cops firefighters and a witness were waiting for us. The witness ran up. "Thank god your here! I was on a walk when I heard someone calling for help. I ran to the edge of the cliff and barley got a glimpse of the guy on the edge of the ledge. But the edge of the cliff was unstable and I almost fell myself! Is he going to die?" The man asked nervously. "Not if we can help it." Captain man said. "Wintersmyth go check on the guy down on the cliff while kid danger and I try to make a plan to get him up. "Got it!" I went over and carefully edged to the edge of the cliff. Sure enough, down the on a crumbling ledge, was a man lying down terrified to move. He was too far down to reach and the fall would be too far to break. "Help! Somebody help me!" He called. "Sir! We're going to get you up!" I called down to him. "Who is it?" He asked. "I'm wintersmyth and I'm with kid danger and captain man. What's your name?" I asked. "David." He responded. "Can you tell me how you got down there David?" "I was trying to climb the cliffs but my harness broke at the top. It looked stable from the bottom but I guess it wasn't." He said. "I have some news for you David. I don't think these cliffs wanted to be climbed! Are you hurt?" I asked. "When I fell I landed hard on my leg and I think it's broken. If I move the ledge will crumble! Please help me!" He pleaded. "We can! But I just need to to sit tight for a minute! Don't go anywhere." I joked. "Where would I go?" He said and smiled. For someone who is facing certain death he's very calm. As I stood up I heard a rumbling. "Wintersmyth!" I heard henry call and I felt hands grab my shoulders and pull me back. Henry had grabbed me just as a piece of the edge where I had been standing crumbled away. "Are you alright?" Henry asked. "I'm fine. You alright Dave?" I yelled to the man. "Yeah the rocks missed me!" He called back. I jumped up. "Okay everyone this cliff isn't stable I want everyone to clear the area! Fifty feet away at all times move it people!" Captain man called as all the cops and things rushed to move back. "What's the status down there Wintersmyth?" He asked. "Dave isn't seriously injured but he might have a broken leg so we're going to need an ambulance!" I called loud enough for the firefighters to here so they would call it in. "I can't reach him by hand and the edge is too unstable to get a harness." I said. "Alright guys think. What can we do to get him out?" Captain man asked. We all started thinking, but I looked at henry and our eyes met. My mind went blank. He looks so cute in his costume. Stop winter! Think! "I got it!" Henry said. "We don't need to attach a cable to anything! But we're going to need a long cable!" Luckily the fire department had one. "Now what?" I asked. He tied it around his waist. Along with a smaller piece. "Now I go over the edge while you guys hold the cable. I'll tie the smaller pierce around the guy and you guys pull is up." My eyes went wide. "Are you crazy? There's no way I'm letting you go over an unstable cliff where you could fall to your death! Make caption man go!" I said. "Hey!" Captain man said. "Your indestructible get over it!" I said. "We can't do that. The cable isn't strong enough to hold him and we wouldn't be able to hold him." Henry said. "Than I'll go! You guys can hold me!" I said. "We both know your stronger than me so you need to be up here with captain man neci axe there will two people you have to pull up." Henry said. "Kid danger I'm not letting you go down there. Give me the cable." I said. I think he saw the begging in my eyes so he gave it to me. I couldn't let him risk his life like that. I couldn't risk loosing him. I tied the cable around me. I looked at the cliff but quickly turned around and pecked henry on the lips. "Don't drop me." I whispered. "Couldn't if I wanted to." He said. "I love you." I said then turned again and walked to the edge. Captain man gave me the thumbs up and I jumped. In case your wondering what that felt like imagine being tied to a not so sturdy looking cable and jumping off the edge of a cliff thousands of feet off the ground with lots of rocks below with only two people as you support who might drop you. Yeah. That's what that felt like. I came to a sharp stop as they held the cable. I was now hanging over the cliff. "Okay maybe I could have thought this over a little bit more." I said to myself. "Okay guys I need to move over about ten feet to the right!" I yelled I felt myself moving to the right. "Stop!" I yelled and I stopped. "Down a little bit!" I started moving down until I yelled stop again. Now I was right next to David. "Sup Dave. Thought I would drop by!" He laughed a little. "Yeah yeah can you stop making bad puns and get me off this thing?" He said. "Got it! No more hanging around! Okay now I'm done." I laughed. "I'm gong to tie this cable around you and when we get lifted up its going to hurt your leg but you have to get through it." He nodded as I tied the cable. "He's tied lift us up!" I yelled. We started moving but then I heard a low rumble. I heard yelling. From above as the cliff crumbled further. Right where kid danger was standing. He went flying. "Kid danger!" I screamed as he fell. I barley caught his hand as he went by. The rest of the rocks went crashing down to the ground. I was now holding two people. Dave and henry and I can't hold them forever. And now caption man was the only one holding the cable. "You have to let me go." Henry said. "Did one of those rocks hit you in the head? I'm not letting anyone go!" I yelled. "He can't hold all of us save David and yourself let me go!" I knew that I wanted to save henry. But if I did he would never look at me again. He wouldn't be able to live with himself knowing that someone else died so he could live. "I love you!" I said. "I love you too." He said. "No!" David yelled. "Neither of you are saving me over you! You think I'm going to let a kid die for me? It's all of us or none of us!" He said. Do there we were. Either we all live, or we all die. Suddenly the cable started moving and we were being lifted up. But my grip on henry was slipping. Just a few more seconds! We made it. Barley. But when I looked at who had pulled us up I saw that not only had captain man pulled us up. But all the cops, firefighter, and EMTs and townspeople who had gathered to watch had grabbed on and pulled us up. Everyone cheered as we got up and brought David to the ambulance. Henry out his arm around me. "You did good." He said. "No you did." I said back which made him smile and kiss me. Everyone cheered louder. A reporter came rushing over. "Kid danger! Wintersmyth! Are you two together?" She asked. I looked at henry. "Yes. Yes we are and we always will be." He said taking my hand. Everyone awed. "Wintersmyth. What was it like hanging over a cliff facing certain death?" She asked. "Let's what was it like hanging thousands of feet over jagged rocks holding on to two other people knowing all of you may die? Let's just say it wasn't my best experience!" I laughed. They asked us a few more questions before leaving them we picked up our stuff and headed back to the man cave to change back. We told Charlotte all about what happened. "We should grab some dinner and go see a movie with Jasper." I suggested to henry and Charlotte. "Do we have to bring Jasper?" Charlotte asked. "Yes we do. What do you say henry?" I looked at him and he smiled. "Sure lets go." He said. We all went over to the tubes. I wrapped my arms around henry while Charlotte took Rays tube. "Bye Ray! Up the tube!" I called and off we went. We went to see the newest terminator movie. (A/N Which I am so planning on seeing!) Jasper got scared of the robots and covered his eyes for the second half of the movie. Then we left to get dinner at the food court. "I don't care how old Arnold Schwarzenegger gets, he will always be an awesome robot!" I said. "Yeah he was okay." Jasper said. "How would you know?! You didn't even watch most of it! You looked pretty scared." Henry said which made us all laugh. "I was not scared! It's just the screen was hurting my eyes!" He argued. "Yeah that explains why you screamed and threw your popcorn!" Charlotte laughed. We got to the food court and I had sushi, henry had a burger, Charlotte had pizza and Jasper had a sandwich. At one point when Jasper was drinking his soda, henry snuck up behind him and went. "You are terminated!" Which made Jasper scream and spill his soda all over himself. Everyone laughed so hard we fell off our chairs. We got frozen yogurt for desert then Jasper and Charlotte headed home. Henry wanted to walk me back to the man cave. As we walked henry started talking. "Thanks for not dropping me when that cliff collapsed." He said. "Even though you told me to. But it was you who came up with the idea for the cable." I said. "Yeah. I was really scared when you went over that cliff. All I could think about was what would happen if something went wrong and I dropped you. You would be gone and it would be all my fault. I wish you would have let me go to get that guy." He said. "But if I had you could have died. But something else keeps bothering me." I said. "What?" He asked taking my hand. "When I was holding on to you and that guy I knew that if we didn't get pulled up I could only save one of you. And even if you told me to save that guy I would have saved you. I'm supposed to train to be a hero but what kind of hero is selfish?" I said frustrated with myself. "That wasn't selfish it was love. Anyone in your position would have thought the same thing. I know I would have saved you. I'll always save you." He said looking into my eyes. I could see how much I had scared him at the cliff. I stopped walking and leaned in. Our lips met and once again the biggest fireworks shot through my lips to my toes. "I'll always save you too. I guess we're all entitled to be a little bit selfish once in a while. It's just part of people." I said. I reached the man cave, kissed henry good night and he went home and I went to bed. It was really scary almost losing henry. I don't know what I would do without him.

Next day

I got up and got ready for school as usual. Little did I know it was not going to be a usual day. I started to leave but then Ray walked in. "Winter wait!" He stopped me. "Yeah? What is it?" I said. "I need to talk to you." He said. "Can you make it quick Henry's outside waiting for me." I said and he frowned. "That's what I need to talk to you about. You haven't seemed to be on your A game recently. You haven't been controlling your powers very well and your not doing as well in training and you seem distracted. And I know it's because of henry." He said. "What? That's crazy! I'm not distracted. I'm doing fine! See I'll freeze that cup of water!" I said. I froze the cup of water, but I also froze the table it was on. Ray looked at me. "Okay I see your point. Maybe I've been a little bit distracted by henry. But your not going to make me break up with him right?" I asked nervously. "No. But if you are serious about being a hero that means you have to balance your time training and being with henry. And you have to stay focused." I knew he was right. I have to stay focused. "Your right. From now on I am completely focused!" I said and turned around only to trip over the couch and almost fall. Ray gave me a look. "Starting now! Completely focused!" I said and went up the tube. For the whole morning I kept thinking about what Ray said. I have to balance my time with henry. But I never get to spend time with him already! As henry and I were walking to lunch we saw Charlotte putting up a poster. "Red carpet dance! Dress to impress! Tonight at 8:00!" I read out loud. "That sounds fun." Henry said. "Yeah I've been hearing about this." I said. "Are you guys coming together?" Charlotte asked. "I don't know. Would you like to go to the dance with me winter?" He asked me. I smiled. "It would be my honor." I replied. "Are you on the dance committee Charlotte?" I asked. "Yeah. Everything is going great. Except we can't find any live entertainment! Playing all recorded music would be so boring! Wait. Winter you should sing something!" She said. "What?! No way!" I said. "Come on your a good singer." Charlotte said. "What even makes you think I can sing?" I asked. "I heard you in the locker room after P.E. You were amazing! Please?!" She begged. "Alright fine I'll do it!" I said. "But don't be surprised when my screech voice ruins the dance!" I said. "I don't think it will." Henry said. "Your not helping!" I said then we all went and got lunch. This is where things go wrong. After lunch I went to my locker to get stuff for the next class. Suddenly I felt a hand on my butt. I spun around and slapped the hand away and saw that it belonged to Mitch Bilsky. "Excuse you but if you plan on keeping that hand I suggest you never do that again!" I said sharply. "Oh she's fierce. That's hot. Today's your lucky day babe! You get to go to the dance with this!" He motioned to himself. I nearly gagged. "No thanks I don't go out with dirty pigs." I said casually. Everyone oohed. "Excuse me? What brain dead girl wouldn't want to go out with me?!" He said annoyed. "The kind who already has a better date." I said. "You mean hart? That little wimp?" He scoffed. "He's not a wimp! And he's more of a gentleman than you'll ever be!" I said and started to walk away but he caught my wrist and pulled me back. "You want to go to the dance with me and you will." He was angry now. "Let go your hurting me!" I yelled but he held tight. "Hey! Why don't you go find someone else to bother Mitch!" I heard Henry's voice. I was relieved when Mitch spun around and let go of me. "Oh yeah? And who's going to make me?!" He glared at Henry. "I am! And if I see you even look at my girlfriend the wrong way again you'll regret it!" He stared right back. Teachers started to come so Mitch backed up. "This isn't over hart. See you tonight babe." He winked at me and I rolled my eyes. Henry came over. "You okay?" He asked. "Yeah I'm fine. But you'd probably dead." I said. "I don't care. I'm not letting him near you." He said which made me smile. "Awe your sticking up for me!" I kissed him and we went to class.

Henry's pov
I hate Mitch! Seeing him touch winter made my blood boil with hate. I'll die before I let him go near her again. There's no way he's getting away with this. I have to do something to get back at him. But what?
