Dan-yin and Muir continue their journey, aiming to distance themselves from the city as much as possible. The farther they go, the better the plan seems. Muir feels a pang of worry when he sees Dan-yin's sad expression; he knows she's not okay despite her insistence that she is. She must be missing the others, especially Harvey.
"I'm sure they're getting close," Muir said, even though he wished they wouldn't arrive too soon. He wanted to spend time with her but felt an inexplicable urge to keep her to himself, but he need hold back.
"You think so? I miss them..." she replied, realizing how spoiled she was but also how much she needed them by her side. It was frustrating to think of them being so far away.
If it weren't for Bai, she could have had a wonderful life in Beast City, decorating their home, raising the cubs, and cooking together. Now, everything was ruined because of that stupid girl! She was the problem!

"did you said something Muir?" she look up at him when she heard the voice again.
"No? why?" he look confused when she asked that.
"Muir... "She quickly clung to him, refusing to let go. "What's wrong?" he asked, wrapping his arms around her waist as she seemed scared again.
She shook her head, wanting to be lifted. In one smooth motion, he scooped her up, cradling her petite frame against his chest as he carried her away.
'What does this ghost want?' she mumbled, still in his arms.

After not receiving an answer, she wondered if he needed more time, but then her thoughts faded. What was that, really? He claimed he wasn't a ghost, so what was he?
"Should we look for a nearby village?" Dan-yin suggested, as she needed a good rest before exhausting herself on this long journey.
