O L I V I A

It was in the middle of the night as I sat in the same place Mr. Everett had been sitting when he had been here, on the couch.

He had left hours ago, back to his home, but he promised he would be back in the morning, to check on us.

It was 3:30 AM and I didn't know if I would consider it night or morning as I sat on the couch since sleep didn't want to head my way.

Unlike Kieran, who seemed to be dead asleep, as he had only woken up a couple of times to drink water.

I was lost in thought about the letters and Mr. Everett's words until someone knocked on the door.

I had my guard up as I made my way, in case it was someone from Eleanor's side, who came to harm me or Kieran.

I looked into the peephole, but none was there, but I opened the door because if someone tried to ambush me now, they had chosen the wrong time.

I wasn't in the mood for games, not tonight.

I opened the door and at that moment, Gabriel Everett appeared before me.

There he was, the one and only Gabriel Everett. He was standing alone, his arms crossed as he wore a troubled expression.

"Are you here to kill me?" I said in sarcasm, leaning against the door frame, observing him from head to toe in case he had a sharp object with him.

"I want to talk with you." He ignored my words like he didn't have time for my nonsense.

I opened the door for him once I saw that he didn't seem to bring anything with him and joked, "As long as you bring peace with you."

He walked past me, ignoring me like I was a nobody to him and at this moment I was none to him, I could see it in his cold gaze.

Gabriel walked over to the middle of the living room, choosing to stand there while I stood further away from him, keeping my distance because despite his cold gaze, the hatred in his eyes viewed me like I was the one who murdered Sam.

"Speak." I ordered him.

I glanced at the corner of my eye at the closed bedroom door where Kieran slept, since there's a large possibility he would hear us if he woke up.

Gabriel also probably didn't know Kieran was in this hotel room, and I couldn't tell him, I was afraid, but not of him.

I was afraid of what would happen if Kieran saw Gabriel.

"If you think you're going to break down by my words, then don't listen to my words and tell me to leave."

"Breakdown?" I chuckled, holding back the pain in my voice, since this was the first and honest conversation we were about to have.

How could I leave?

He ignored my comment and began to say, "I liked our time together ever since you moved into my apartment, it was fun despite it all being for revenge, for both of us."

"Yeah, it was for revenge." I agreed, crossing my arms in a defensive manner.

He cleared his throat after long moments of silence, "It started the moment Sam died after she gave birth. I wanted revenge against Eleanor for hurting the woman I love."

"I tried to protect Sam, but I failed. I should have ended Eleanor a long time ago."

"I was lost until I found out that you wanted revenge against Eleanor, and you were one of her daughters who had seen her at her cruelest, according to Sam." He said, not meeting my eyes.
