I don't think there's anything worse in this world than seeing the one you love leave the world right in front of your eyes. (y/n) finally, after so many days, truly felt a little bad for Lloyd.
Yet (y/n) still held onto the mask he always wore, and didn't let it drop. He made sure no one saw his expression as he moved through the crowd of celebrating Elemental Masters and ninja. (y/n) hadn't bothered to learn anyone else's names except for the ninjas, so he just avoided attracting anyone's attention.
Sometimes he had to dodge as people danced wildly, chanting praise to themselves and the ninja. Today everyone was a hero. Everyone had helped hold off the Anacondrai. Though the real hero was Garmadon, and Garmadon alone.
Even though he was still far away, the second (y/n) had gotten through the thick crowd, (y/n) could see Lloyd, standing all by himself, hugging Clouse's spell book close to his chest.
(y/n) neither mourned or celebrated. To him this was neither a scenario of 'victory' or 'victory, but not without a cost.' To (y/n), nothing of importance had happened. But soon it would. But soon he would make it.
(y/n) raised his folding fan to his face, drew in a deep breath, before walking calmly behind Lloyd, stopping only a few meters away.
"I'm sorry for your loss," The words that he let spill out of his mouth tasted like vomit in his mouth, but yet he felt like Lloyd, for once, deserved the comfort. (y/n) never thought he'd be saying things like this to the green ninja of all people, but the boy in front of him wasn't the green ninja right now. And... it was what (y/n) needed to do to make his facade seem real.
(y/n) had been too leisurely before, he had taken too long to figure out where the thing he was looking for even was, and once he knew it was in Clouse's spell book, the book itself was already far away from his hands.
"I'll never see him again..." Lloyd muttered, quiet as a mouse.
(y/n) fanned his face, calming himself down, pushing down the memories that threatened to cover his head at the worst possible time.
(y/n) thought what he should say. 'It'll be alright. He's in a better place. I'm here for you. That's just life.' All lies! Especially 'That's just life!' Ugh... (y/n) wouldn't have believed himself if he said that.
"That's not true," (y/n) spoke with some truth in his words for once. Maybe Garmadon could come back. If Morro could, and (y/n) knew he would, then so could Garmadon.
Lloyd didn't say anything back to (y/n), not even as (y/n) carefully moved to stand by Lloyd's side.
"We can look through Clouse's spell book together. Or we could search Chen's library again, I-" (y/n) offered out ideas, reaching an arm towards Clouse's spellbook, but at the last second, Lloyd jumped away, his head still hanging.
"I'm going to burn the book." Lloyd stated as bluntly as he could, opening the book and staring at the page with the spell he had used to send away his father.
(y/n) drew another expression on that mask he wore, something akin to a begging, desperate look.
"Lloyd! You know I need that book! It's my only hope! Won't you please-" But he was cut off by Lloyd slapping the book shut.
"Drop the act! I read through the whole book, and there's nothing that can help you!" Lloyd finally raised his head and glared at (y/n).
But (y/n) still kept up the worried look, "Are you sure? You don't know which spell I'm talking about, do you?" But Lloyd wasn't having any of it anymore.
"There was nothing that could cure you! Nothing mentioned Heaven's Door tea, aging, stopping or continuing time on anyone, breaking curses or spells, nothing!" Lloyd shouted at (y/n).
