Chapter 26: Divine energy

 "Where am I...?" Ricky looked around the room.

He was sitting on top of an operation table used for surgeries. There were shelves and piles of books lying around the place, there were shards of glass on the floor as well. There were many tubes filled with liquid and bodies as well. He got off the table and walked around.

"Priest...? Where are you...? There's nobody here..." Ricky looked around when he finally spotted something.

In one of the tanks of liquid, the lifeless body of Shino lay. The lower half of his body was slowly mixing with the liquid he was surrounded in. Ricky stared in horror.

"Shi...no?"

Ricky wondered what happened to Shino; why was he in this state? Why was he here? Weren't they chosen by god...?

"Ugh..." Ricky stepped away, he had his fists clenched.

He knew he had to get out of this place immediately. He turned to look back at Shino's lifeless body, he promised himself that he would come and save him one day. Soon enough, Ricky dashed out of the room, trying to escape.

"Zenith church... I'll never forgive you..." Ricky had tears in his eyes as he ran.

Ricky kept running through the long corridors of the building. When he heard a large explosion noise where he assumed came from the sound of battling. Did someone come and save him? He started running towards that direction.

"They're coming from the right!! Dodge!!" Sir Ras shouted.

"Ah! Mister!!" Ricky ran towards his direction.

Sir Ras turned over and was relieved to see Ricky standing there, unharmed, "I told you to call me Sir Ras!"

The horse-like chimera noticed the small child in the distance and charged towards him. Sir Ras was stunned by this action.

"Block him!!" He ordered the knights.

Two of the knights rushed towards Ricky's direction but were blocked by the moth chimera.

"RICKY!! RUN!" Sir Ras shouted.

"M-my body... won't move..." Ricky stood still, tears pouring from his eyes that were still glowing gold.

"RICKY!" Sir Ras dashed towards Ricky.

The chimera kept running towards Ricky, not stopping until it was super close. Then, it raised its hooves, about to stomp on Ricky. Suddenly, a bright light flashed from Ricky's body, surrounding the area with dust and dirt, blinding Sir Ras' view.

"Sir..." Ricky stood in a panicked state, not sure of what just happened.

Sir Ras stared in surprise, "It's still dangerous! Hurry up and come to me!!"

"Sir!!" Ricky ran into the holy knight's arms.

Sir Ras looked at his situation, he looked at the three shadow knights who were still dealing with the incoming chimeras. Then he looked at Ricky in a worried state. He knew he couldn't protect a child while fighting two colossal chimeras.

"Ricky, you should go up first." Sir Ras told Ricky.

"But-"

Ricky was about to say something back but stopped himself. He knew that if he stayed with the rest of them, he would only get in the way. So he decided that he would leave.

"Okay, I got it." Ricky nodded.

Ricky ran off into the distance and Sir Ras was about to engage in battle once again.

"Sir! You have to return safe and sound!!"

Sir Ras waved a hand while he had his back facing Ricky. He charged back into battle, with ferocity and rage. He knew that if he was only facing one chimera, then he had a good chance to win.

Ricky ran up the stairs that he had descended from not too long ago. He wondered what the sudden burst of light was as he finally escaped the dark building. He thought about the things that he had just learned, were the blessings all a lie? He knew that his little brother was still at the Zenith church, and he knew none of these things.

During these thoughts, Ricky heard an explosion in the distance. Objects were thrown in the air and blasts of purple light shine from various places. Ricky knew that was a sign not to go towards that direction. However, his body wouldn't listen to his pleas and started walking towards the dangerous and dark direction.

"You're good at running away..." The chimera creator growled, "I'll end you with this!! DIE!!!"

The chimera creator launched several tentacles towards Jasmine's direction, more than he had done previously. Jasmine was disgusted by his endless energy and persistence, the tentacles were indeed very gross.
