"The place where it sleeps?" Benna wondered, "What could be sleeping-"
When the door fully opened, a giant black bear with a red spiked collar walked over. It was as tall as the doors, many times taller than Jasmine and Benna. Both were shocked at the sight of it. What was a bear doing here?!
"Wow!" Benna looked up at it, 'It's so cute! Look master! There's a really big teddy bear-!"
The bear's fist came crashing down on Benna, Jasmine dashed over to Benna, trying to push her out of the way.
"WATCH OUT!!" Jasmine shouted.
Jasmine managed to fling herself against Benna, knocking her away from the bear's grasp and preventing her from being crushed.
"Uwah!" Benna cried.
"You have some nerve, coming here on your two feet..." The bear growled.
"You know who we are...?!" Jasmine struggled to stand to her feet.
"Stop pretending you don't know!!" The bear crushed a stone and threw the pieces at Jasmine.
"Shield!" Jasmine summoned a shield around Benna and a weaker one around herself.
A stone smashed against the shield, breaking the blue orb. Another smaller stone hit Jasmine to the right of her chest, making her cough up blood.
"KAGHH-!!!" Jasmine coughed.
"MASTER!!" Benna ran over to Jasmine.
She was knocked over to the side, she was lying down, she didn't have a lot of strength to stand up, but she was alright, she was alive. However, Jasmine realized that she had broken a large amount of her bones, her eyes a hazy green.
"Master! Are you alright?" Benna helped Jasmine sit up.
"Well, I'm not dead, am I?" Jasmine chuckled.
"Since I nullified "that" power, there's nothing you can do to stop what's coming!" The bear growled.
"So you were the one who blocked my black mana..." Jasmine hissed, "How'd you do it...?"
"There's no need for you to know that!!" The bear raised his fist and and sent it towards the direction of Jasmine.
"I-I...I'm going to protect you, master!!" Benna tried to kick the fist away, however, she was blasted away but caught herself at the end, "Master?!" Benna looked around.
"Good job, Benna!" Jasmine smiled, she put her hands together in the shape of a gun, a multi colored light was shot towards the bear.
However, the attack bounced off the bear's thick furs. It inflicted no damage at all.
"What the fuck...?" Jasmine and Benna whispered at the same time.
"This is the result of your flailing, why can't you just give up?" The bear sighed.
"You want us to just accept death?!" Jasmine shouted.
"You were the one who attacked us for no reason!!" Benna agreed.
"You left a disgusting object in my forest. Since you committed a crime, you should be punished for it!"
"What the hell?! This is the first time we've been in this forest!!" Jasmine protested.
"Yeah!!" Benna nodded.
"Lies! That dark power protesting that filthy "demon egg" is definitely yours!!"
"What?!" Jasmine never knew demons would appear.
"Quit pretending and die!" The bear swung a fist at Jasmine.
"I-I CAME HERE TO GET RID OF THAT THING!" Jasmine shouted, "BY THE REQUEST OF THE GODDESS!!!"
The bear's claws stopped one centimeter away from Jasmine's neck, sending a gust of wind that blew off Jasmine's hood.
"Is that true?" The bear asked.
"I'll bet everything on it." Jasmine nodded.
The bear retracted his claw away from Jasmine, also noticing her emerald green hair which reminded him of something he was trying hard to remember.
"If you don't believe me, I can show you." Jasmine brushed her hair to the back.
"It's alright," The bear seemed to calm down, "This forest is a part of the Goddess' territory. If you were lying and smothering her name, you would've been struck down by heavenly punishment immediately. However, I can't feel any godly presence from you, and that power of yours definitely doesn't belong to any god either."
"Well, I don't follow her. We just made a deal. She told me to go to the dark forest and prevent the awakening of that repugnant dark magic. She told me that I would understand why she sent me instead of her followers once I got here."
"That's hard to believe, but I cannot not believe it either..."
"Wait!" Benna chimed in, "Can you tell us more about the demon egg?!"
"The egg appeared in the forest about a month ago. I went to take care of it immediately, but a dark power was guarding it. It was an incredibly deep and mighty power. No matter what I did, I couldn't break the barrier, so I've just been blocking the power that is guarding the egg for the time being."
"Well, I don't feel any godly authority from you." Jasmine wiped the blood from her mouth, "How did you block that power?"
"It's thanks to an artifact, which is in the form of this ruin."
"This entire place is an artifact?!" Jasmine was pretty surprised, she couldn't even create an artifact this large in her last life.
"Wow! This entire place? That must be expensive-"
Jasmine quickly ignored Benna, "Who made this place?" Jasmine questioned, "How do you know the ancient language? And what purpose was this artifact made for?"
"I'm not entirely sure, but I do know that this place was made approximately 600 years ago."
"Thank you. But please allow me to ask one more thing. Why are you still keeping that dark power blocked?" Jasmine asked.
"What do you mean?"
"If you blocked the dark power, wouldn't that have broken the egg? Why would you need to keep black mana in an unusable state?"
"Well, to be honest... The egg is still intact..."
"Are there other obstructions?" Jasmine was confused.
"Well, for the artifact to work properly, the owner of the ruins has to be here, and I haven't found anyone to help me yet..."
Jasmine and Benna stood there, with disappointed faces. What the hell?
