Chapter 36: Benna

 "Damn it! I'm sure she went this way!" One of the people chasing Jasmine shouted.

"We'll lose her at this rate!!" The other grumbled.

Jasmine sat with her legs crossed on top of a building. She snickered at the two numbskulls still wondering where she was. She decided to play a trick on them to make it more interesting.

"Alright~ This should be good~!" Jasmine smiled.

Jasmine snapped her fingers. On the ground, a noise was made in one direction, drawing the attention of her two pursuers. Jasmine almost couldn't hold her laughter in.

"This way! She went this way!"

"Just you wait!"

Jasmine chuckled while sitting on the roof. She slowly stood up and clapped her hands together.

"Yes~ Come along! How about I put you to the tes~?"

"Ke ke ke!" Blair laughed.

"S-" There was a noise behind Jasmine, "Sorry!"

Jasmine was grabbed by the waist. She was thrusted into a portal, flinging her back, Blair quickly flew into the portal, afraid that she would be separated from her mother.

"Ugh... We lost her..." The pursuers on the ground grumbled.

After getting flung into the portal, Jasmine launched a blast of magic, knocking back whoever dragged her away.

"Kyaa!" A pink haired girl screamed.

Jasmine was annoyed that someone had gotten past undetected, "How dare you...? I don't know who you are, but you've made me really angry!" Jasmine flashed a glowing blue light in her hands.

"W-wait! Please, listen-"

"Oh yeah~? What if I don't want to?" Jasmine slowly approached the girl with her dark aura.

"Kyaa!" The girl unleashed a blast of dark red aura towards Jasmine.

Jasmine recognized this power, it was present day black magic. Jasmine didn't want to risk anything so she transferred the anger that she gathered into power and blasted the wall behind the girl. Probably enough to at least scare her.

Jasmine lowered herself down to the girl's level since she was crumpled on the floor, "You use dark magic. It'd be nice for you to tell me why you attacked me by surprise just now." Jasmine glared at the pink haired girl.

"You're so cruel..." The girl whispered.

"What?" Jasmine stopped.

"I was just trying to help you! It would be bad if a kid like you got caught by those two black magicians!"

Jasmine didn't even realize that her two pursuers were black magicians. She would've killed them had she known.

"But you just tossed me around after I helped you! A-And you started to accuse me! Why is everyone so mean?!" The girl weeped, "I didn't do anything wrong! I just don't want to be hated by people! Why does everyone hate me?! Why?!"

Jasmine sighed, it was just a hopeless little girl, "Alright, alright... I apologize." Jasmine handed the girl a handkerchief.

The girl accepted it and dabbed her eyes, they were pretty red from her crying. Jasmine tried to comfort her until she was ready to talk. This reminded her of when she was comforting the children at her orphanage in the past.

"So Benna, what you're saying is... You're from the same school as those two kids, and since I was being chased, you kidnapped- I mean, saved me?" Jasmine sat down next to the girl with her hood off, "And you saved me by using the warp gate you stole from your school." Jasmine held the zombie mouse from earlier in her hands, slowly petting it.
