Chapter 22: Chosen

 "There you are Ricky." The priestess found Ricky.

"Oh, sister! What can I help you with?"

"Everyone was asked to gather at the worship hall." The priestess informed.

"The worship hall? Yes, I'll be there right away!"

Ricky made his way to the Worship hall, we walked across the blue carpeted floor. All the children of the orphanage slowly walked and sat down at their designated spots.

"Hey, Ricky! We're over here!" A girl called to him.

"Bella! Why're you with my brother?!" Ricky glared at the girl sitting with his brother.

"Huh? I brought her since they said for everyone to come!"

"That doesn't mean you gotta stick to him like a piece of gum, is it? Huh?" Ricky pushed Bella away.

"Ah! Don't push me!" Bella complained.

Ricky sat down beside his brother, Anthony, "Why did they gather everyone anyway?"

"Perhaps another person got chosen." Anthony assumed, "That would be great."

Then, the Bishop got onto the stage, clearing his throat to get everyone's attention.

"Greetings everyone, have you all been well?" The Bishop asked.

"Yes!" The crowd cheered.

The Bishop continued, "We have good news today. Another oracle has been passed down to us by god."

Murmurs were spread amongst the crowd of children, "Another oracle? Like Shino? Is someone being chosen?"

"Ha ha, what you are all thinking is correct. Zenith desires one of you this time as well!"

The Bishop smiled, he felt slightly bad for all the children. All of those children foolishly wish to be chosen without knowing a thing... However, the Bishop quickly changed his way of thinking. He believed that it was a blessing for a mere orphan to become a paladin, he didn't have to feel bad. It was a blessing! The children needed to be more excited!

"Now, now, settle down. The one the Zenith desires this time, is Ricky!"

Ricky was chosen; chosen to become the next chimera.

"It seems as though the rain is almost stopping." Sears observed.

"Yes," Jasmine nodded, "I do believe that the rain will be stopping soon."

"Having teatime on rainy days is nice, isn't it Jasmine?" Sears asked her daughter.

"The scent of rain is refreshing, but spending time with mom is even better!" Jasmine smiled.

"My daughter! What beautiful words you speak! Almost as beautiful as you!" Sears hugged her daughter close.

"Ha ha!" Jasmine laughed.

There was a sudden knock on the door, it was a butler.

"I apologize for disturbing your time, Madam. But a guest is here to see the young miss." The butler informed the two.

"To see me?" Jasmine asked.

"Yes, a commoner child said he was your friend and came to see you. Shall I chase him out?" The butler asked.

"A commoner...?" Jasmine thought for a bit.

Jasmine knew it wasn't the Valle brothers since they were nobles. Ah! Jasmine thought. She finally found out who it was.
