A week later and it was finally date night! Jessica was so excited, she couldn't stop talking about it to the girls all week. She had told Spencer that she was going to Emily's for a girls night as it still felt a little awkward to talk about it with him. Plus she knew how over protective he can get so she thought it was best not to tell him for now.She put on a black dress, curled her hair and put on a some light make up. She was meeting dean at the restaurant and so she knew had to allow time to get there, but luckily Emily would be driving her. Eventually when she was ready she went down stairs hoping she wouldn't see Spencer on the way out just incase he asked any questions she didn't have the answer to. when it came to him, she was a terrible liar. She made it downstairs when she passed him in the living room reading a book. "Oh your going all ready?"
"Yeah, that wine won't drink itself" she joked nervously.
"I bet it won't." He smiled, putting his book down and standing up.
"Where are you going?" She looked at him picking up his keys.
"Oh I was going to give you a ride. Like I normally do. Is there a problem?"
"Dad that's really sweet, thank you. but it's fine I don't need one tonight" she hated lying to him and began to wonder if it was even worth it at this point but figured that she has already gone far enough and to be fair it wasn't a lie that was going to hurt him.
"Oh okay" he said softly as he sat back down "but Jess you shouldn't be walking around alone at night. It's already dark out there" he said with a hint of concern in his tone.
"Oh no I'm not, Emily's going to swing by and pick me up. She should be here soon"
"If you're drinking then should I still come pick you up after?" It was harder than Jessica thought it was going to be to brush off his fatherly concern.
"Um no it's fine dad I'll call a taxi"
"It's really no problem I don't mind picking you up" he offered again and just his willingness made jessica feel even more guilty.
"No i know you don't Its not that it's just that i have a feeling we will be up later than usual so you shouldn't wait up for me okay?" They both heard a horn beep outside which they knew was Emily.
"Oh... um okay" his tone nearly sounded a little sad or maybe lonely? But she couldn't be sure what it sounded like but she didn't have time to worry about that she just jumped up, grabbed her bag and started to head out.
"Bye dad!" She scurried off to the front door.
"Wait you forgot your keys" he said standing up, picking the keys off the coffee table.
"Thanks dad! I love you" she smiled taking the keys out of his hand.
"Have fun"
"We will!" She said before closing the door behind her and running out to the car.
"There you are what took you so long?"
"Sorry sorry my dad was asking like a ton of questions and now I feel bad like maybe I should've told him." She said looking at Emily who started driving.
"Well it's too late now, you can tell him after" Emily dropped her outside the restaurant and she went inside and was brought to the table while she waited for dean to show up.
Jessica decided to order her first drink to pass the time. After a while she checked the time, it had been about 20 minutes since jessica got there and dean was no where to be seen. He was now late and jessica was worried so she decided to text him to make sure he's alright. No response.
