Chapter 3: Mystery Man

Four months later:

Four months into her new job and jessica was thriving. She finally felt settled and like she had found her place. She had very quickly become close with the team and everyone loved her. She had worked with them on a quite a few cases now and she never ceased to impress them.

This morning however she walked into the office but realised something was off when Penelope didn't immediately run up and give her a massive hug. Instead she could see them all cheering and laughing with someone but she couldn't quite see who it was as they covered almost entirely by the team.

She walked closer to try and get a better look when JJ saw jess grabbed her hand pulling over excitedly. "Jess! Finally your here come you have to meet someone"

"Meet someone? Wh-" she stopped in her tracks and her blood ran cold when she could see who the mystery man was. It was like all the air was sucked out of the room, she couldn't breathe.

It's was Spencer Reid who to jessica's surprise clearly recognised who she was and he too was standing there looking back at the familiar face just as confused and shocked "ad-"

jessica snapped back into it when he began to talk and cut him off. "J-jessica green" she extended a hand for him to shake and he does slowly still taken aback looking even more confused. "I'm new here I don't believe we've met" in her mind she was begging he wouldn't say anything infront of the team, just hoping he would go along with her.

"Uh- y-yeah yeah no I don't believe we have. Dr Spencer Reid" he honestly looked like he could cry but I don't think anyone could blame him if he did. "I'm- I'm sorry can you excuse me one minute" and he slipped away from everyone and walked out so fast he was nearly running out of there.

"What was that?" Jess registered that as Penelope and spun around looking at everyone looking more confused than Jess and Spencer.

"Do you and Spencer know each other?" Rossi looked at you trying to figure it out.

"What? No! I've never met him before"

"are you sure? Because your face is telling a different story" derek chimed in.

"No I don't. You guys just talk about him a lot and it's weird to finally meet him, especially when you all compare me to him!" She started getting a little frustrated now and the others could tell so they let it go but they were all still unconvinced.

"Alright so as happy as I'm sure you all are that dr Reid has been reinstated can I have you all back to work now" hotch announced and everything went to sit at their desks.

Reinstated!?! Jessica she knew she wasn't happy about this. Although she went looking for him all those years ago she didn't know until today when he stood was in front of her that she absolutely did not want him in her life again. It was like a switch flipped and she knew that she wanted nothing to do with him and She could feel the anger rising inside her.

Jessica set her things down at her desk then went to the bathroom took a few deep breath's and couldn't help but cry a little, she knew this was on her but it didn't stop it hurting so much. She sat down for a minute just trying to process everything that just happened and she had so many questions. Why was he reinstated? How did he recognise her after so long? Did the others know he had a kid? Eventually jessica had managed to pulled her self together and went back to her desk and started to work throw her paperwork at her desk. she couldn't help but sneaking a glance over at Spencer's office every now and then. Her brain was running at a thousand miles an hour and she was so unfocused she could barely do any of her work. She didn't talk to a single person until her lunch break when she was walking past Penelope's office and Jess felt someone's hand grab her arm and pull her inside. It's was Penelope, she pulled her in and sat her on a chair, while shutting the door.
