Chapter 9: chinese food

Hours later it was nearly 9pm and the team had been at the BAU the whole day but made no progress and everyone could tell how stressed this was making Jess even though she tried hiding it, they were profilers. They knew. and they were all so angry that there was nothing they could do to help her, other then catch the unsub but they were seriously struggling to do that. "Agent green you should go get some sleep and let us work on this for now" Hotch suggested.

"What no I'm fine. If any of us are gonna figure out who this is it's me, I'm the one he's after! I know this case better than anyone" She retorted.

"Yes exactly he is after you thats we need you to be on high alert for when he does come after you" hotch says firmly, jessica would never normally raise her voice at her boss like she did  but these were hardly normal circumstances and hotch took that into account for  professionalism or lack there of. "This isn't up for a debate, it's an order" he gave her a stern look and she rolled her eyes.

"Fine I'll go home." She picks up her keys and bag off the table and goes to leave.

"Wait no you shouldn't go back home" he said, thinking aloud.

"What? So first you want me to go home and sleep and now your saying I shouldn't go home, what do you want me to do sleep right here on the round table in-front of you all?" She said sarcastically.

"No I will put in a call to have you taken somewhere safer. You can't go home if he's already shown us he already has a way in and out of your house"

"Hotch please" she pleaded with him.

"No green this is for your safety" he pulls out his phone about to make the call.

"Jessica, hotch is right. You'll be safer somewhere else" Spencer adds but jessica kept her focus on hotch.

"Aaron please don't I'll be fine at home" she begged Him. "By doing this your letting him win"

"How?" Hotch held off on the phone call to hear her out.

"Because thats what he wants, he wants to watch my life fall apart and you telling me I can't go back to my home is feeding into that, please hotch. He has already taken my mother, my family, and he's taking my life every minute that he is a threat to me don't let him take my home from me too" she was on the verge of tears, even she had no idea why her home was so important to her right now but it was so she was going to fight for it.

Hotch thought for a moment " okay fine." He said reluctantly She started to smile. "But I'm sending officers to patrol and watch your house. Got it?" She nodded eagerly "and you take Morgan with you"

"Mhm!"

"And you check in with one of us every three hours okay?"

"Yes yes yes thank you sir! You wont regret this!"

"Okay no go rest up" jessica started to walk off followed by Morgan. "Oh and jessica?"

"Yeah?" She stops and turns to look at him.

"Stay safe, don't be a hero. Just stay safe" she could hear the concern in his voice with what she also recognised as a hint of fear too. It was a tone of voice she hadn't heard come from hotch before, which she only made her worry a little more but she swallowed her concerns nodded then smiled at the rest of the team before walking out.

When Morgan and Jess pulled up on her drive they went inside, locking the door then Morgan pulled out his gun "what are you doing?" She looked at him confused "are you the unsub?" She said jokingly.

"No but I just want to make sure he isn't here already" he starts walking off checking the house and Jess walks into the kitchen to get a glass of water.
