Two weeks had passed since Team RWBYS and JNR had settled in Atlas. While the others had been busy with missions across the frigid kingdom, Sasuke and Oscar had focused their efforts on perfecting the seal that could potentially be a game-changer in their fight against Salem.
The working prototype is a huge success, now they're working on a bigger seal, an even more refined seal that would suit well when putting it on Sasuke's floating rubble against Salem, while also providing the same formula from the prototype and some tiny alterations
Their days were filled with meticulous work, drawing and redrawing scripts, gathering materials, and testing prototypes. Occasionally, they took breaks from their work to train together, strengthening their bond and sharpening their skills.
Today marked a significant moment in their efforts. After days of intense focus and countless trials, they had completed what they hoped would be the final version of the seal. It was a complex array of symbols and chakra-infused inscriptions, designed to block mental intrusions and manipulations-an essential tool against Salem's influence.
"Alright, Oscar. Let's test it one last time," Sasuke said, his eyes narrowing with determination as he activated his Sharingan. He needed to make sure the seal could withstand a more potent Genjutsu.
Oscar sat across from him, his posture steady, his expression focused. "I'm ready," he replied, taking a deep breath to steady himself.
"Genjutsu!" Sasuke commanded, casting a more powerful illusion. He watched closely as the crimson and lavender light of his eyes bore into Oscar's.
For a moment, the air in the room seemed to still. Then, Oscar blinked, his expression remaining calm, unbothered by the effects that would usually induce dizziness or disorientation. His mind remained clear, untouched by the illusion.
"Huh... I think the seal worked!" Oscar exclaimed, a smile spreading across his face, feeling a rush of relief and accomplishment. The weight of weeks of work lifted slightly from his shoulders.
Sasuke nodded, his intense gaze softening as he observed the successful outcome. "We've done it, Oscar," he said, allowing himself a small, satisfied smile. "The seal held against a more potent mind manipulation. This is a significant step forward."
Oscar's eyes gleamed with hope. "Does this mean... we have a real chance against Salem now?"
Sasuke's expression grew serious again, but there was a spark of determination in his eyes.
Sasuke nodded from his question.
"Hn." Sasuke hummed. "The more we prepare, the better our chances."
Atlas Academy Training Room
Most of Team RWBYS and everyone from Team JNR were at the training grounds, honing their skills.
Weiss was sparring with her sister, Winter Schnee, who was instructing her on how to better control her summoning.
"Focus, Weiss," Winter commanded, watching her sister's every move. "Remember, it's about precision, not just power."
Weiss nodded, her glyphs forming beneath her feet as she summoned a spectral knight to her side. "I know, Winter. I'm getting better at this," she replied, concentrating hard as the knight took a defensive stance beside her.
Meanwhile, Ruby was practicing her semblance. She dashed forward, her body dissolving into a flurry of red petals. She aimed for a wall with several small holes, splitting herself into four smaller petals that expertly flew through each opening. The petals merged back into her form on the other side, and she landed gracefully, a triumphant smile on her face. "Yes! Nailed it!" she exclaimed.
