Vacuo, Desert Outskirts

The first rays of dawn were beginning to pierce the darkened sky when Coco groaned, her eyes fluttering open. She felt a sharp pain in her back, a reminder of Tyrian's brutal slash. The desert air was cold against her skin, the silence broken only by the distant howl of a lone Grimm. For a moment, she struggled to remember where she was. Then, the memories of the ambush crashed into her like a tidal wave.

"Velvet!" she gasped, trying to push herself up. Her arms trembled with the effort, but she got onto her hands and knees. "Velvet, where are you?"

She scanned the area, her heart sinking as she saw Fox and Yatsuhashi still lying unconscious nearby. The sand around them was disturbed, evidence of the intense battle that had unfolded. But Velvet was nowhere in sight.

"Yatsu! Fox!" Coco called out, her voice hoarse. She crawled over to Fox first, checking for a pulse. Relief washed over her as she felt the steady beat under her fingertips. "Come on, Fox. Wake up," she urged, gently shaking him.

Fox groaned softly, his eyelids flickering. "Coco... what happened?" he muttered, wincing as he tried to move. His head was throbbing, and his vision was blurry. "The ambush.. Ughh.."

"We got hit hard," Coco replied, moving to Yatsuhashi next. "They took Velvet. We need to find her."

Fox's eyes widened, the urgency in Coco's voice cutting through the fog in his mind. "Velvet... No," he murmured, struggling to sit up. "They can't have gone far. We have to move."

Yatsuhashi, beginning to stir, grunted as he rolled onto his side. "Did they... get her?" he asked, his voice weak but determined.

Coco nodded grimly. "Yeah. She put up one hell of a fight, but... they took her."

Fox clenched his fists, anger boiling within him. "We can't let them get away with this. We have to get her back."

Coco looked at her team, beaten and bruised but not broken. Her own injuries throbbed, but the adrenaline and fear for Velvet pushed her forward. "Agreed. We need to get to base, report what happened, and regroup. We're not in any shape to fight right now, but we will be."

Yatsuhashi, now more awake, nodded. "We need a plan. We can't just rush in without knowing where they are taking her. We need to regroup and prepare."

Coco nodded in agreement. "Fox, do you think you can track them?" she asked, knowing his heightened senses might be their best chance at finding a trail.

Fox closed his eyes, focusing on his hearing and sense of smell, trying to pick up any trace of Velvet or their attackers. After a moment, he opened his eyes, a hint of hope in his expression. "I think I have something. It's faint, but I can follow it."

"Good," Coco said, helping Yatsuhashi to his feet. "We'll follow your lead. Let's head back to base first, get patched up, and then we're going after them."

Yatsuhashi nodded, determination etched on his face. "We won't let them keep her. We'll get Velvet back, no matter what."

Fox, his eyes narrowed with resolve, added, "And when we do, they'll regret ever crossing us."

Together, they began their slow, painful trek back to their base, each step filled with a mix of pain and determination. Their bodies were battered, but their spirits were unyielding. They were a team, and they would not leave one of their own behind.

As the sun rose higher, casting a golden hue over the desert, the silhouettes of Team CFVY moved steadily toward their destination, their minds focused on one thing: rescuing Velvet and bringing her home.
