{After the wedding reception}
As the final echoes of laughter and well-wishes faded from the reception hall, Benji and Ruth slipped away quietly, hand in hand, their hearts pounding with excitement. The winter chill nipped at their noses as they stepped outside, but they barely noticed, to busy wrapped up in thought about the thrills of what lay ahead. They made their way back to Ruth's hotel room first, where she quickly gathered the last of her things. Benji stood by the door, watching her with a tender smile, marveling at how effortlessly beautiful she was, even in the simplest of moments. It was hard to believe that just a few short moments ago, they had been celebrating with their loved ones. And now, they were setting off on the next great adventure—their honeymoon, which was in the sun-drenched beaches of Hawaii. With Ruth's luggage in tow, they hopped back into the car and headed toward the guys' apartment to collect Benji's things. Nic and Nils were there, lounging on the couch with Tibo, still in their wedding attire, looking every bit like they'd just come from the party of the year. They greeted the newlyweds with cheers and jokes, playfully warning Benji not to forget anything. "Don't worry, I've got everything I need right here," Benji replied, pulling Ruth close to him with a grin. The guys helped load his luggage into the car, giving Ruth and Benji one last round of hugs before they were off. "Enjoy every moment," Nils said with a wink. "And don't be in too much of a hurry to come back." "Safe travels, you two," Nic added, giving them both a warm smile. Tibo snapped a few more pictures as they waved goodbye, capturing the start of their new life together. The drive to the airport was a quiet one, the excitement building as the reality of the honeymoon phase started to set in. Ruth leaned her head against Benji's shoulder, feeling a deep contentment wash over her. She was Mrs. Benjamin Krol now, and they were about to embark on a journey that was all their own.
At the airport, they breezed through security and settled into their seats on the plane. The flight attendants congratulated them on their wedding as they boarded, and even the other passengers sent them smiles and nods of acknowledgment. It seemed the entire world was sharing in their joy. As the plane took off, Ruth reached for Benji's hand, intertwining their fingers. "I can hardly believe we're really married. I didn't think this day could come soon enough," she whispered, looking out the window as the snowy landscape of Berlin disappeared beneath them as they ascended into the air. "I know," Benji replied softly, kissing the back of her hand. "But I wouldn't want to be anywhere else or change a thing about today." Hours passed, and as the plane began its descent, Ruth felt a flutter of anticipation. They were about to land in Honolulu, a place she had for so long, only ever dreamed of visiting. And now, she was arriving as a newlywed, with the love of her life by her side. When they finally stepped off the plane, the warm, tropical air wrapped around them like a welcoming embrace. The sky was a brilliant blue, and the lush greenery of Hawaii stretched out before them, promising days of sun, sand, and endless adventure. A lei greeted them at the airport, the fragrant flowers draped around their necks, and Benji couldn't resist capturing the moment with a selfie, Ruth beaming beside him. The honeymoon had officially begun, and as they headed toward their waiting car, they knew that this was just the beginning of sweet moments to follow.
{In Hawaii, twenty and a half hours after the wedding reception}
Arriving at their hotel, Ruth and Benji were in awe of the stunning ocean views that greeted them from the balcony of their suite. The room was spacious and elegantly decorated, with soft white linens on the bed and tropical flowers arranged in a vase on the table. Large sliding doors led out to a private balcony that overlooked the beach, where the gentle sound of waves could be heard rolling onto the shore. "Can you believe this?" Benji murmured, wrapping his arms around Ruth from behind as they stood at the balcony, taking in the breathtaking view. "We're really here." Ruth leaned back into him, feeling the warmth of his embrace and the reality of their new life together sinking in. "It's like a dream," she whispered, her eyes filled with wonder. "I never imagined we'd be starting our lives together in such a beautiful place." They spent a few more moments in quiet appreciation before the long journey caught up with them. Deciding to rest for a bit, they collapsed onto the plush bed, the exhaustion of the day finally hitting them. Ruth snuggled into Benji's side, and within minutes, they both drifted off into a peaceful nap, lulled by the soft sound of the ocean outside. After about an hour, they woke up feeling refreshed and ready to explore. "I'm starving," Benji admitted with a laugh, his stomach rumbling as he stretched. "Me too," Ruth agreed, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Let's go find somewhere to eat." They freshened up quickly, changing into some casual clothes more suited for their evening plans. Benji wore a white shirt and tan shorts, while Ruth wore a tan shirt with a sunflower skirt and tan sandals. She grabbed her beach bag, stuffed her wallet into it, and grabbed her jean jacket on their way out the door, then they made their way down to the hotel's restaurant. The dining area was open-air, with soft lanterns casting a warm glow over the tables. They chose a spot near the edge, where they could still see the ocean, now dark and mysterious under the night sky.
As they enjoyed a delicious meal of fresh seafood and local delicacies, they found themselves talking endlessly and effortlessly about everything, savoring the time together without the pressure of wedding planning or the chaos of their recent adventures. It felt good to just be themselves, now husband and wife, sharing a simple meal in a beautiful place. After dinner, the night still young, they decided to take a long, romantic walk on the beach. Hand in hand, they strolled barefoot along the shore, the cool sand beneath their feet and the gentle waves lapping at their ankles. The moon hung high in the sky, casting a silvery light over the water, and the stars twinkled brightly above. "This feels so surreal," Ruth said softly, her voice almost lost in the sound of the waves. "It almost feels like we've stepped into another world." Benji squeezed her hand, smiling down at her. "I know, it's really wonderful," he replied. "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else, with anyone else." They walked in companionable silence for a while, simply enjoying the peacefulness of the moment. Eventually, they found a quiet spot where they could sit on the sand, the waves gently rolling in front of them. "You know," Ruth began, breaking the silence, "I never imagined my life would turn out this way. With everything that's happened, I've learned so much about myself, about what really matters. And most of all, I've learned how to love someone unconditionally." Benji turned to her, his heart swelling with emotion at her words. "I feel the same way," he said. "This past year has been the hardest, most challenging time of my life, but it's also been the best, because now I get to be with you forever and ever. I love you more than I ever thought possible and more than anything else in the world." They shared a quiet moment, the weight of their words sinking in as they looked out at the endless horizon. The future stretched before them, full of unknowns, but also full of promise. And they knew, without a doubt, that whatever came their way, they would face it together. As the night grew darker and the air cooler, they decided to head back to their hotel room, their hearts full and content. The walk back was slow, both of them reluctant to let go of the magic of the evening, but knowing that many more beautiful moments lay ahead. When they finally returned to their suite, they changed clothes, and climbed into bed, the sound of the ocean lulling them into a relaxed state of mind once more. Their twenty-three hours of married life had been perfect, and as they drifted off, wrapped in each other's arms, they couldn't wait to see what tomorrow would bring.
