Chapter 38: Balloons And Photos

Maki was sitting quietly on one of the flight of stairs on their veranda, staring blankly into nothing while she waits for Sophia to come and pick her up. Napag-usapan kasi nilang dalawa na si Sophia ang susundo sakanya sa bahay nila para magkasabay na lang sila pumunta doon sa hotel na tutuluyan nila para sa isang buong gabi, napagpasyahan na din nilang dalawa ni Sophia na mag-overnight doon. Earning envies from the youngest of their group– Sapphira, who's sick and unfortunately couldn't join them.

She was only pulled back from her reverie when an engine stops roaring in front of their gate, catching her attention. A tall and slender looking woman exited the car wearing an all flashy and catchy clothes in a shade of pink. Maki instantly brought herself up and dusted her bottom off, dragging her light suitcase with her.

“You're too early.” Maki blurted out, sarcasm lacing on her tone earning an eye roll from Sophia.

“I got caught up in a traffic.” Sophia said in defense.

“Anong traffic? Traffic or hindi, lagi ka talagang late. Wag ako Sophia Antoinette Sevilleja.” the older girl said, glaring playfully at the younger girl afterwards.

Sophia could only let out a laugh at this.

“You caught me, may dinaanan lang ako.” she said, flashing Maki a sheepish smile that made the older girl to be taken aback.

Maki reach out her hand to touch the younger girl neck and her forehead.

“May sakit ka ba? Himala smiley ka ngayon.” komento pa ni Maki dito.

Napailing si Sophia sa sinabi ng dalaga.

“What do you mean? I always have a friendly face–”

“Yeah, no.” Maki said immediately cutting off Sophia's sentence.

“Anyways, later na kita i-interogate, umalis na tayo mabuti at maaga pa. Madami pa tayong magagawa doon.” the older girl said with enthusiasm, putting her seatbelt on in the process.

To which Sophia complied, starting the engine and drove away. The whole car ride, the two of them were laughing along to each others funny stories and antics, causing their trip to somewhat come off very short as they arrived at the hotel they were gonna spend the night over.

“Andito na tayo? Ang bilis ah.” komento ni Maki habang tinatanggal ang kaniyang seatbelt.

“Ang daldal mo kasi.” Sophia deadpan.

“Wow ha, sino itong nagkwekwento ng with actions pa? Buti nga hindi tayo nabangga eh.” Maki remarks and the two of them broke into fits of laughter.

They settled in into their hotel room just as soon as they check in. The two girl's didn't bothered unpacking as the two of them knew well that they wouldn't stay that long in there, instead they started getting ready for their plans for today. Within the span of a half an hour, Sophia and Maki exited the hotel lobby and made their way into the beach part of the resort.

“Gusto ko mag banana boat!” Maki exclaimed excitedly but immediately frown when out of the blue she felt like she wanted to pee.

“Pero bago ang lahat, I need to pee.” bulong ni Maki sa kaibigan at tumakbo papunta sa direksyon ng comfort room.

“Hihintayin kita dito!” pahabol na saad ni Sophia sa dalaga, nakita niya itong kumaway sakanya bilang sagot.

Dali daling tinungo ni Maki ang banyo at kumaripas sa loob nang makita na niya ito. Pumasok siya sa isang cubicle doon at isinarado ang pinto. Nagpaalwas siya ng buntong-hininga nang matapos na siya at lumabas na, ngunit hindi nakalimutan na maghugas ng kamay bago tuluyang lumabas ng restroom. Habang papalabas siya ng banyo ay nakatungo ang kaniyang noo kaya hindi niya napansin ang isang taong hindi rin nakatingin sa kaniyang dinadaanan dahilan para bumangga sila sa isa't isa.
