Azriel cradled the mug of lavender tea that Elain had dropped off in tired hands. He had hoped for conversation when she had come in, but she had just passed the mug to him and kissed his head, before disappearing out the door, just like Feyre had. It was then that he realized that Rhysand had asked everyone not to talk to him. Feyre and Elain probably had to get permission to come into the library at all.
Rhysands POV
The sun was already setting when the doors creaked open and Rhys slipped in.
"Azriel." He greeted him with a curt nod.
He slowly walked over, as if afraid to wake a beast. He pulled up a mahogany chair to sit in front of him.
"Azriel, I want you to listen to me, and not to interrupt, okay?"
Azriel nodded.
"Beron is an absolute menace, and must be eliminated for many reasons. His perspective on war, and his peoples lack of free will is quite frankly horrendous. That is something I know to be true." Rhys shifted in his seat. "It is a big thing to meet your mate, and I am really happy for you, Az, I am. But what of Mor? What of how she has been treated by him? That being said, I am sure you have an explanation, or maybe Mor has given you her blessing. Whatever the reason, I am not interested in hearing it right now.
"I want you to be happy. You are family, of course I want you to be happy, and if Beron needs to die for that to happen, then so be it, that is what will happen. But, and I know you will not like this, until then, the discussion that will be between you, me, Feyre, Eris, and Mor, cannot occur - for your own safety. So, until further notice, I forbid you from attending meetings with Eris, whether they be official or on your own time."
Azriel looked up at him, the look on his face the most devastated it had ever been.
"Okay."
Rhys frowned. "I will put no official order in place, Azriel, so you will be in no real trouble if you break my command, because I want you to be happy. But I trust you to listen, and to do what you think is best.
"We have a meeting scheduled in the Autumn Court in a few months to discuss Lucien's citizenship and position with Elain, and you may see your mate then. I promise that. But break my trust before then, and I may not allow you to come, understand?"
"Yes, Rhysand." The broken sound of Azriels voice was enough to tell Rhysand that he hadn't stopped crying since he had left hours ago.
As Rhysand began to walk to the door, Azriel spoke again.
"I've known for almost my whole life, Rhys. Five hundred years. Eris helped Mor break their engagement for me. That whole time, we had a bond that we couldn't make true. You know, Rhys, for you, having that with Feyre for six months hurt you, didn't it?"
"It has been five hundred years, Rhys. I am in real, actual pain."
Rhys continued to the door, chest hollow.
Im thinking about making a playlist to go with this, would anyone be interested? as a warning i will say it would have alot of taylor swift songs on it, so if u dont like her, well, dont listen to tthe playlist! Xx
