Chapter 39

The James' residence

People crowd the house as they all prepare and look forward to tomorrow for the draft. Spencer and Darnell both came in. Spencer walked up to his mum and excused her from the midst of some of her friends.

Grace: Where are you taking me to, Spencer?

Spencer: Just come with me mum, I need to show you something and I don't want Liv to see it.

They both entered Grace's room. Spencer brings out the box and showed his mum.

Grace: (her face lights up) Wow, this is beautiful. I love it.

Spencer: You do?

Grace: Yes. It is very pretty, she would love it.

Spencer: I plan on giving her during the party.

Grace: She will love it, Spencer. (She smiles) And we are good for tomorrow. (she looks at her son) I am proud of you, Spencer. I am really very proud of you. You have done so well for yourself.

Spencer: (hugs his mum) Thanks for everything, ma.

Spencer and Grace both joined Olivia and every other person in the sitting room as they all gist and laugh, till they all went to bed.

Monday

Baker's residence

Layla had packed all her things and was ready to go to the airport. Billy and Laura had decided to go drop her.

Laura: Layla, we would have love to travel with you today to go check out your place and help you settle in but today is a big day for Jordan and we need to be there for him but tomorrow myself and Billy will be there for you.

Layla: It is alright, mum. I understand. Again, help me tell Jordan and Olivia that i am truly sorry and I hope they forgive me soon. (she looks down at her finger as she plays with them) Hopefully, they forgive me someday and we can all come together as a family again. 

Billy: Yea, hopefully. Just take care of yourself over there and try to focus on your career, so you can become great too at whatever you do.

Laura: And don't forget to always call us and let us know when you are in need, please.

Billy and Laura hugged her and helped her with her luggage as they drove to the airport. They waited till she boarded and left after knowing she was good.

Spencer's room

Olivia helps Spencer with his tie, wearing a broad smile on her face.

Olivia: The day is finally here, babe. I am proud of you. First, your degree and now getting drafted, that is a commendable.

Spencer: (he smiles) Thanks babe. Can't wait to celebrate with you too, when you graduate and get that big job you always wanted..

Olivia: Sure, it is going to happen. (she smiles)

Grace enters the room, and Olivia gave her space to talk to her son.

Olivia: I will go check on Jordan.

Guest room

Olivia; My twin, (she smiles) my very good brother. I am proud of you and I am happy to share in your moment.

Jordan: (smiles) Thank you, sis, for always encouraging me and being my best friend.
