Alexander's pov
The next morning at work, the atmosphere was unusually tense. I walked into my office, and immediately noticed something off. It wasn't long before the door opened, and a few of my employees limped in, visibly bruised and battered. The sight of them, with their shamefaced expressions and injuries, told me exactly what had happened.
Nova had done her job, and she had done it with the kind of intensity that only she could muster. I couldn't say I was surprised-she'd warned them, and they'd pushed too far. They deserved every bit of it.
I took a moment to observe their sorry state, noting the fear in their eyes as they glanced around the room, clearly uncomfortable and anxious. Good. They should be.
I leaned back in my chair, letting the silence stretch for a moment before I stood up. The room seemed to shrink as I walked towards them, each step deliberate and filled with menace. My face was a mask of cold fury, my expression a warning that they were about to face something far worse than physical pain.
"Do you think this is a joke?" I asked, my voice low and dangerous. The question hung in the air, heavy with the threat of what was to come.
One of them, a man with a swollen eye, shifted nervously. "Alexander, we-"
I cut him off with a glare that could freeze blood. "Save it. You've had your chance to speak. Now, you listen."
I walked closer, my eyes locked onto theirs. The fear in their eyes was palpable, and I took a twisted satisfaction in it. They needed to understand that their actions had consequences-severe consequences.
"You think you can spread rumors, make false accusations, and then just get away with it?" I continued, my tone cutting through the room like a blade. "I've worked hard to build this company, to ensure that it runs smoothly and professionally. And you? You've been a disgrace to it."
I moved from one employee to the next, glaring at each one with a look that promised retribution. "You will not only face repercussions here. If you continue with your behavior, I'll make sure you face them elsewhere. I have the power to ruin careers, lives, and even families. Don't think for a second that I won't use it."
Their eyes widened as I spoke, their bodies stiffening under the weight of my threats. I could see their fear turning to panic, the reality of their situation sinking in.
"If I hear another whisper about Nova, if I see another hint of disrespect, there will be no place for you here. I will ensure that every door you try to open will be shut in your face. Understand?"
They nodded quickly, their heads bobbing up and down as they tried to avoid my gaze. I could almost see the panic written on their faces, and it pleased me.
"Good," I said, my voice dripping with cold satisfaction. "Now get out of my office. And remember this: I have a long memory and an even longer reach. Don't test me again."
As they scurried out, I let out a sigh of relief. The message had been delivered, and it had been received loud and clear. I turned back to my desk, feeling a grim satisfaction that the integrity of my company-and of Nova-was secure once more.
Days had passed since my warning, and it seemed the message had not been received well enough. The rumors and disrespect towards Nova continued, and it was clear that my previous threats hadn't been taken seriously. I was done with tolerance.
Rebecca came into my office with a file in hand, her face a mix of frustration and concern. "Alexander, the fired employees are being interviewed at various places. Here's a list of their names and the companies they're meeting with," she said, handing me the file.
I skimmed through the names and locations, my anger rising. These people hadn't learned their lesson, and now they were trying to undermine everything I'd worked for. I immediately picked up the phone, calling each of the companies where these ex-employees were seeking new opportunities.
"Hello, this is Alexander Blackwood," I began, my tone cold and commanding. "I'm calling to inform you about the recent hires you're considering. The individuals on this list were recently terminated from my company for spreading false rumors and engaging in unprofessional behavior. They are a liability and have proven themselves unfit for any position that requires integrity."
I gripped the phone tightly, continuing my complaints. "I warned them that I would use my influence to ensure they faced consequences, and they've pushed me to do just that. I suggest you reconsider any employment offers you might be contemplating."
As I hung up the phone, satisfied that the message had been delivered, I noticed Reece pushing open the office door, his small face a mix of curiosity and concern. "Papa," he said, looking up at me.
Rebecca, who had been listening to my call, turned with a sigh of frustration but cleared her throat, moving away from the doorway. "Reece, where's Mama?" I asked, hoping to understand his concern.
Reece pointed outside, and I saw Nova standing by the door, her expression pained and angry. "Mama hurt," Reece said, tapping his eye and cheek.
"Is it a big hurt or small hurt?" I asked, trying to gauge the severity of the situation. Reece widened his arms to indicate it was a big hurt. My heart sank.
I walked out of my office, approaching Nova carefully. When I lifted her face, I was shocked to see multiple bruises. The sight of her injuries ignited a fury within me. It was clear that my employees had crossed a line, and now they would face the consequences of their actions.
"Nova, give me the names of the people who did this," I demanded, my voice tight with anger.
She hesitated for a moment, then named the individuals responsible. My rage boiled over, and I stormed out of my office, heading straight for the culprits.
When I found them, my anger was barely containable. I grabbed the men and threw them against the wall, delivering a series of blows that left them unconscious. They had dared to attack someone I loved and trusted, and now they were paying the price. The room was filled with the echoes of my fury, and the message was clear: no one disrespects my family without facing dire consequences.
